And you are quibbling with me over a lack of a comma? Or starting a sentence with And? This is not an APA paper last time I checked. I will be scrutinizing all of your pots for grammar and English from now on. I don't worry excessively about this, but it does bug me when people say free speach instead of free speech. You see, I usually use pretty good punctuation and I don't add commas usually where they are not needed, and I never add an apostrophe to a plural unless it denotes ownership of something, so you are griping over my informality because it is a convenient way to insult. If you had any real argument, you wouldn't rely on such things. In fact, it's rather specious of you, and kind of silly.

Immaculate, please do your homework. Citizenship and eligibility for POTUS are not the same thing. A person who comes to the States from a foreign country can apply for citizenship. That does not mean that person can become President. Likewish, Native Born is different from Natural Born. You are mixing it up and then telling me that all you have to do is be a Citizen. Yes, you have to be Natural Born.

There is a good discussion of what exactly it means to be Natural Born.

The idea here is that Obama Sr was not a resident of the States, although he did attend college here. To be a resident he would have to have applied for a residency. I doubt that is what happened. You cannot automatically become a resident through marriage to a citizen, although some people have argued this in blogs. I happen to know it is not true. It would be interesting if an acquired residency for Obama Sr did turn up, but due to him being a British subject under the British Nationality Act of 1948, it is more likely Obama Jr is a British subject. There are some issues around Stanley Ann's status too. Obama Sr can not have conferred American citizenship to Obama Jr. but he could confer British citizenship.

Hawaiian Amended birth certificates for people born outside the US denote the birthplace on the certificate. If you are suggesting that Obama's birth certificate is real but is an amended one then you still need to look at where it says he was born. His says Honolulu which is inside the US.
