Found this interesting video regarding a mama polar bear waking up to something unusual and probably very disorienting. Evidently, an oil rig had
been built while she was hibernating – and giving birth to a cub. She’s confused. Who wouldn’t be? It ends with the narrator saying she and
the cub leave and never come back. And why would they?
Thank God when they drilled and built this rig, they didn’t disturb her den and she apparently wasn’t harmed. Sad though, that this was built in
her habitat. Even if she planned on returning, I doubt she will now.
Another example, even in "remote" Alaska, where wildlife is loosing homes. They should have checked for hibernating animals and such(populations)
before construction.
Good find, sad story but at least they survived.
