Well then welcome to Africa. Many countries in Africa gave up on helping their people years a go. There is no point of government if they don't help their people. They might as well close up go home and let us take over.

This is why we can't cut social programs. This is why we must keep those strong. If millions of americans are cut off we are talking an Eygptain/Lybian style revolt. This is how people will react if they have nothing to lose!

No. You misunderstood everything I said.

The current liberal welfare socialist programs are leading to a collision where the system breaks down and there's no food.

If you are one of those relying on the liberal welfare socialist program, you are doomed.

If you are a self-sufficient American taking steps to protect your family, you are preparing for the collapse. And you are preparing to protect what is meant for you and your family.

And don't have any sympathy for those who were duped into believing Big Brother government would see them from cradle to grave.

Back before the government stuck it's nose in, the needy were a community thing. Those that did have extra to give would help out their neighbors, the ones that couldn't didn't have a chunk of their money taken out against their will... Then again people were not parked in fromt of a hypnobox telling them to buy worthless trinkets 6 hours a day back then either

No one is stopping anyone from giving extra...I give to charities as well as paying my taxes.

The government "stuck it's nose" into it...because the community wasn't helping enough. I wonder how many would donate to poor inner city schools if the government didn't??? Same applies to those in need...sure you might help the one poor family in your town...but what about the thousands or millions in other cities across the nation???

Well it is much better than people dying. We need to cut down on wars and miltary expenses. We need to concentrate more money on keeping people alive not killing them!

I do agree that the illegal wars are unnecessary, and also a burden on the tax payer.

without the military there is no peace or economic security here.

besides if you have ever read the constitution its one of the few programs that the government is legally bound to

You do know right, that Reagan once said:

Government is not the solution but the problem

He spoke of this during his inauguration speech.

Yep. And when either the Mexican Mafia or the Chinese army or a pack of ravenous terrorists with dirty bombs come calling in America............you can always say, "I helped make our military weaker."

Like I said before, the level of disconnect....

Take a tour through your impoverished area of town, the one I'm sure you avoid like the plague.

Often the homes in those areas are owned by what most would call a "slumlord". When your house is inadequately insulated and maintained, you spend more than you would normally trying to keep it warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.

Where we live, there is no bus service after 6 pm. If you work nights, like my mother did, you can walk 10-15 miles to work in areas most men wouldn't walk through, much less a woman, or you take an 8$ or so cab ride to work.

I'm pretty sure I said about, probably and 200-300 quite a few times. By my limited education, those would be considered estimates.

I think my estimates are quite accurate. I could ask her is she still has old pay stubs, rent receipts and utility bills to give you an exact figure. But my estimates are pretty accurate.

You can try to belittle my statements and situation as much as you like. It only furthers my case that people who don't have any idea what it's like to have to live that way are disconnected from the people that do.

Lets imagine life with no social programs.
First of all the rich would not set up and give. Like a previous poster mentioned that is why the government stepped in. Without these social programs we would be talking about 50 million americans homeless. That is a 16% homeless rate! Section 8 supplies housing to those who can't afford market rate apartments. For example current minium wage is $7.25/hour. 7.25X40= 290 after taxes is is about $200. So a persons pay before taxes is $1160 and after taxes about 1 thousand. Most apartments in Kansas City are at least $500 per month for a one bedroom. A person at minuim wage would not qualify so therefore they need a government subsidy.
Loss of food stamps could mean millions of people strave to death like in Africa.
Loss of medical care and benefit payments could bring the overall life expectancy down signifcantly. There is a reason why life expectancy in South Africa is 59 because their government abandoned their people.
Without these social programs bodies would be piling up and people would die from curable dieases and lack of food!

Dont take my response as means to discredit you or belittle you, just found the numbers didnt add up. But your last post explained that you were guessing at the expenditures more so than i originally identified with.

Ok so Bill Gates just made his own money? Didn't he get a loan or start with a job? Didn't he get some sort of loans for college? Money just doesn't appear; he had to make it from somewhere. There is never one case of a human being who was sucessfully independent except for maybe the cavemen back in ancient times but do we want to really live like that?

Yes lets stick with facts shall we. We are not out of a recession, and our economy only grew 3.5 % over four quarters.

Yes...let's. You use your article from 2009...I'll use one from a few weeks ago.

US economy outpaces rivals even as job growth lags

The United States is out of step with the rest of the world's richest industrialized nations: Its economy is growing faster than theirs but creating far fewer jobs.

And you do realize that the DEFINITION of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth??? Do you know the last time there was negative GDP growth??? It was the 2nd quarter of 2009...which just happends to correspond to your article. Your article predicted that the economy would dip again...guess what...it hasn't.

From YOUR article...FROM 2009:
www.telegraph.co.uk...

The grim reality is that America isn't out of recession, whatever your stockbroker tells you. Over the last 40 years, all US slumps have been interrupted by at least one quarter of positive growth, followed by a renewed downturn.

America hasn't yet recovered and it won't anytime soon – not unless President Obama finds the courage to hose down his friends in the banking sector and force them to start lending.

We can 100% say that this article was WRONG. We have had SIX quarters of positive growth...but keep using your outdated source if it makes you feel better.

Here is the GDP growth since 2009:

www.bea.gov...

Gross domestic product
2009 I: -4.9
2009 II: -0.7
2009 III: 1.6
2009 IV: 5.0
2010 I: 3.7
2010 II: 1.7
2010 III: 2.6
2010 IV: 3.1

So yes...we ARE out of the recession.

I'm sorry...but you can't just make up your own definitions.

Au contrare...I am self sufficient. Those around me are self-sufficient.

As for those on welfare, if you are using your welfare check to purchase canned goods and ammunition, instead of cigarettes, beer, drugs and the lottery tickets.....at least you are using your welfare check wisely.

So Obama admitted we contribute to programs such as Medicare and Social Security, right? And those "... guarantee us health care and a measure of basic income...."
Sounds like O'Care needs to go away since it's obviously a redundant program, admitted by proxy by SR O himself.

If you are trying to compare the Health Care Reform to Medicare or Social Security...then you obviously don't understand it.

I do understand it, and the comparison stands. O'Care is just another way for the gov't to get in your wallet and pay more for something you already receive.

It takes money to make money though. We are all dependent on something. Without depending on a paycheck a person would be homeless on the streets. No one is any better than anyone else. Why judge those who are down on their luck?
Not all of social programs are welfare. Social Security or Medicare isn't. The elderly deserve to sit on their couch after working 40+ years!
