Has anyone heard about Comet Caesar? Comet Caesar was visible over Rome for 7 days and nights near the time of Julius Caesars assassination and promptly named after him. The following article goes on to say Comet Caesar is a “dark comet” meaning escaped detection until arrival. This comet was in the sky when the Mayan calendar began and now some speculate this is the comet that may return in 2012.

“Those who have done a great deal of study on dark comets have found some historical references to one that is known as Comet Caesar. A comet so bright and long lasting that it was visible to the naked eye over Rome for 7 days and nights in 44 B.C. Tracing historical entries backward and forward a pattern of some 1100 years span between appearances puts this dark comet in the sky about the time that the Mayas began their calendar, in approximately 1066 and appearing for the fifth time over Earth at about the right timeframe to be the 2012 comet.” quote

Exact dates of comet appearance are rather difficult as each time the orbit through the solar system, their speed diminishes a bit. Additionally, their behavior is influenced by Jupiter and Saturn before they enter our area of space and while the comets are in our solar system. From what has been learned in the span of less than a year, it is very possible that a dark comet such as Comet Caesar could appear on the radar with very little warning of its presence until not long before impact. Understanding the implications makes it rather hard to completely erase the possibility that a 2012 comet catastrophe is not really so farfetched after all.” quote

“If, and this is obviously pure speculation, it had been observed in 3114BC, and again in 44BC, could it be returning once again in 2012? With a precise periodicy of 1025.2 years we get the following sequence of dates:
3114BC – start of the Long Count calendar
2089BC – 2104/2105 is when the Great Flood occurred according to the Hebrew Calendar
1064BC – 1077 was the end of the Egyptian New Kingdom, marking the beginning of Egypt’s decline
39BC – Comet Caesar was witnessed in 44BC
987AD – Dark Ages
2012AD – end of the Long Count calendar
Is 39BC close enough to 44BC? In 1758 the French astronomers who calculated the return of Halley’s Comet determined that the gravitational effects of Saturn and Jupiter would make a difference of 618 days to its existing orbit, or almost 2 years. Is a difference of 5 years within 5 orbits outside the realms of possibility?” quote

At this point I’m more concerned about the 1000’s of dark comets we don’t know out in space and according to findings we could have a couple of days advanced warning at best.

Wrong... Here is its location ssd.jpl.nasa.gov... =0;cad=0#orb
Right now, it is 906 AU away and getting further.

If the link doesn't work, copy this into address bar: ssd.jpl.nasa.gov...

In 1997, two scholars at the University of Illinois at Chicago — John T. Ramsey (a classicist) and A. Lewis Licht (a physicist) — published a book [7] comparing astronomical/astrological evidence from both Han China and Rome. Their analysis, based on historical eye-witness accounts, Chinese astronomical records, astrological literature from later antiquity and ice cores from Greenland glaciers, yielded a range of orbital parameters for the hypothetical object. They settled on a 0.224 A.U. orbit for the object which was apparently visible with a tail from the Chinese capital (in late May) and as a star-like object from Rome (in late July).
A few scholars, such as Robert Gurval of UCLA and Brian G. Marsden of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, leave the comet's very existence as an open question. Marsden notes in his forward to Ramsey and Licht's book, "Given the circumstance of a single reporter two decades after the event, I should be remiss if I were not to consider this [i.e., the comet's non-existence] as a serious possibility." There is one within,
Besides the things that we have heard and seen,
Recounts most horrid sights seen by the watch.
A lioness hath whelped in the streets;
And graves have yawn'd, and yielded up their dead;
Fierce fiery warriors fought upon the clouds,
In ranks and squadrons and right form of war,
Which drizzled blood upon the Capitol;
The noise of battle hurtled in the air,
Horses did neigh, and dying men did groan,
And ghosts did shriek and squeal about the streets.
O Caesar! these things are beyond all use,
And I do fear them.
