Unbelievable video!! I'm not sure what the mainland is built on but the island of Okinawa(south of the mainland) is built on coral rock,so it's possible the mainland is as well.

Their buildings are built to withstand these earthquakes,I can guarantee if this happened in the U.S buildings would be reduced to rubble.
