Microsoft launches StreetView rival in Europe

Microsoft is launching its own version of Google's StreetView - dubbed Streetside - across Europe.

Cars fitted with cameras have begun taking pictures around London and will start mapping major cities on the continent next month.

The service is already available in 56 US towns and cities.

Microsoft has been keen to avoid the privacy concerns that dogged Google's service but said that it does plan to gather wi-fi data.
Google ran into trouble with privacy groups while creating Streetview after it emerged the company intercepted and stored private information from some hotspots.

I can not believe they are doing this?
and telling people they are not doing it like google.
and who believes that?
they have to analyse all wifi to find the ones they need.
and the rest of the date? some one will erase that um later.
what do we have to do to stop them taking All of are privacy?

If your privacy can be breached just by a car passing down a public street then I think you may have some other issues to worry about.

If you're out in public you no longer have PRIVACY.
If you're out in public, your privacy is long gone anyway.

In public? they can take the data from your home.
and when you are out your lap top is being read by they.
this is sold to any one who will pay.

Thank you Mr. Obvious... I think maybe you misunderstood me?

I was saying, if you are in a private place and your privacy can be compromised by vehicles passing through a public place, then you have bigger problems to worry about.

I was mainly talking about the wi-fi mapping. If your private information can be compromised by a wireless signal that reaches into a public place, then your main concern should not be the people who detect the signal but the signal transmission itself.

Good thing im not living 'in' a city then and have my personal laptop and other devices with wi-fi safely in my home


.... would the cars be able to swipe my phone data though if one happens to pass me by?
