The Real Housewives of Wall Street

Why is the Federal Reserve forking over $220 million in bailout money to the wives of two Morgan Stanley bigwigs?

America has two national budgets, one official, one unofficial. The official budget is public record and hotly debated: Money comes in as taxes and goes out as jet fighters, DEA agents, wheat subsidies and Medicare, plus pensions and bennies for that great untamed socialist menace called a unionized public-sector workforce that Republicans are always complaining about. According to popular legend, we're broke and in so much debt that 40 years from now our granddaughters will st

personally i think taibbi is one of the most honest and trustworthy media reporters out there. i read everything the man writes, and have very rarely found any fault or deception in any of his articles.
take the first part of this article for instance.

i mean who else actually mentions the 2 national budgets?
crazy, i know, but the absolute truth none the less.
read the rest of the rolling stone article in the link, i can basically guarantee that it is not a waste of a single minute of your time.

Amen.
It's truly deplorable and I can't wait till WE as Americans finally get darned pissed off at these ASSHATS and we begin spilling their blood in the streets, granted we may have to go to the Caymens to find them, their blood is going to spill, in fact if I have any say in the matter, it is going to be a bloodbath and we will be splattering the blood on ourselves and dancing around in ecstasy when it happens

I used to think that hanging them from lampposts outside their offices was too good for them... now I feel that it would be much better to simply change their positions so they may experience the other side of the equation they set up for 'the lesser people.'

Let them suddenly make minimum wage... let them suddenly have zero access to free money and instant uber credit. Close the social channels of their elite status.

See how much they learn.... regardless of the amount, the experience would be a thrill to watch.

As I have often stated before; these jerks were born on third base and have the unmitigated nerve to demand that we treat them as if "they" had hit a triple. They think they 'deserve' it.

Such a concise question surely deserves a concise answer: No.

Yes indeed, my question was directed for concise replies without the drama. But surely given your background you are more than capable of understanding as to why i was asked to post.

Absolutely deplorable and frankly criminal.

I would like to see another "Real Wives of Wall Street" which would be equally powerful. The wives of the operations clerk who lost his job due to these criminals. The wife of the family gent who was taking two hours and two trains to get to work as a programmer who has lost their job due to these gents driving these firms into the dirt.

What folks need to realize is that the folks who work in the industry do not have a pension. They don't in most cases get profit sharing nor company provided 401K contributions and if they do, they were given in worthless stock. They get paid more than comparable jobs (not much) and get an annual bonus that, for someone who works in the industry knows is meant to be put away for retirement.

These firms are super labor intensive with thousands of lower and middle end jobs. They work their butts off in highly technical jobs in the highest cost of living cities in the country and frankly, they run those firms. They are the plumbers and thousands of them lost their jobs.

Having all sides of the equation on the same show would be fantastic. The super rich person who, while potentially impacted still has the benefits of years of 8 figure bonuses, so they are not affected in any substantial fashion. The person who was making a ton of dough but not as much as the former who is outraged that they had to sell their condo in Vail and house in the Hamptons. And then the margin clerk who was making $50K a year who lost his modest home and now is 55 and does not have a dime saved for his retirement. The enlightment would be astounding from folks who all got paychecks with the same logo on it.

It is really easy to hammer Wall Street. What we are really hammering is the Wall Street Elite. For every one gent making a $1M there are a thousand who are solidly middle class who now have nothing. They're out of a job. Have no pension. They had a 401K that was based on company stock which is now worthless.

What these bankers did is disgusting. As someone who has worked in the industry for over 20 years, what they did to the folks who broke their ass in jobs that enabled them to be in positions where they were able to rape the country is doubly disgusting.

We used to have executives come in and tell us "all the traders could stay home and this firm would be OK. If you folks in operations and IT stayed home, we would go out of business in a day". That's true. The common decency lacking in these people who showed absolutely no regard for folks for whom they had a responsibility to look out for is the most disgusting aspect of this entire affair.

As a side note, when I worked for a major asset management firm they moved to a policy where they would process expense reports on a two month cycle. I had entry level folks who did a lot of travelling to train folks in new systems and they did not distribute corporate cards, so they had to go out of pocket to do their job and then get reimbursed. These folks were making in the $18K - $25K range. The firm waited to reimburse so they could invest the cash to make a dime. Here are folks who needed to take out payday loans to pay their rent and eat and the rich gents are purposefully withholding their money to make a buck. Needless to say, my team had a turnover rate of close to 80%. In about 1989 a bunch of us dropped a dime to the New York Post on the situation and after a story was published the policy was changed shortly there after.

Just one personal example of the greed of these folks and their utter lack of regard for people.

I like the idea of making them trade places for a time... If Dan and Eddy can be trusted then it could make the world a better place!

In all seriousness this is one of the best arguments for true socialism. It rids the world of "old" money and forces every generation to work for their wealth. True socialism eliminates inheritance, not wealth. It provides equal opportunity not equal results.

The thread needs its name changed to something considerably more alarming - I came here to post this exact article, obviously it couldn't be found int he worlds lamest search function known as ATS search, but as soon a I went to post it in global melt down saw it.

Seriously - change the title to the something like "Truth Behind Bank Bailout exposed" - the wife aspect is so incredibly irrelevant to what the article is talking about - the Gaddafi aspect is phenomenal

you are most likely right, although i don't use the tactics you mentioned.
if i did, someone else would accuse me of fear mongering, or something.
i tend to just go with what the author titled it themselves.

was there something you were going to put in your o.p. that has not been mentioned so far?
