Great News! The new cheap source of energy to replace definitively the conventional and dangerous nuclear power industry! The begin of a new Era? Seems so. There are further evidence that an energy revolution is coming. The Greek Government has given The "GO" condition to build a new power plant on the E-Cat Focardi & Rossi device in Xanthi, Greece.
Yet another test of Andrea Rossi's Energy Catalyzer (E-Cat) has been performed on a 4.5 kW version near the University of Bologna. This time a new set of observers were present, one of which is the chairman of the Swedish Skeptics Society, who confirmed that Copper is being formed from Hydrogen and Nickel -- Cold fusion!

pesn.com...

Translation/summary:

"there might be a solution for energy production issues through the fusion of hydrogen and nickel. This is what Focardi and Rossi claim, in the midst of reactions and dispute, during the presentation of their reactor. As they state, this apparatus can be placed anywhere and cover even household energyy needs. The discovery is already being exploited in Greece".

Prof. Stremmenos interview:

"...we are headed away from energy medieval ages. So it seems. It will depend on further research and the study of applications so that all levels where green energy is needed can be covered".

Says this energy is clean.
Interviewer: "how can you be so sure"?
Stremmenos: "first because I have worked in the research of such systems and i never observed radiation of any kind, second because in three exhibitions it has been established by third party observers, specialists in measuring radiation, that there was no dangerous radiation".

In a press conference Rossi and Focardi revealed that they are already moving towards marketing the catalyst. Greece, as they emphasized, leads the way through Defkalion Green Technologies, based in Athens, that has undertaken the production and exportation of their discovery

The next one is USA.
Andrea Rossi Says He Has Signed “A Contract of Tremendous Importance” in the USA!

Andrea Rossi’s Journal of Nuclear Physics website is proving to be an interesting source of information these days. Mr. Rossi doesn’t seem to be reluctant to feed little snippets of information about his plans and activities. An interesting piece of information was posted on April 7th.

“Today I am in the USA factory of Leonardo Corporation where I signed a contract of tremendous importance. As soon as I will be allowed to announce it, believe me, it will be extremely important”.

Later on, in the same thread he state simply, “Yesterday we signed a very important contract in the USA.”

Did they say approximately how much money does it cost to operate this and how much would electricity cost? I'm asking this because i think it is important to know. If we know that in advance, any government using this will be more reluctant to still charge relatively high prices for power. Just a thought....

Yeah, I want numbers. Just how much more efficient is this type of cold fusion over conventional nuclear fission, in simple numbers?

I must say that I find this a very interesting find, especially that according to Wikipedia:

Rossi claims he has an agreement with the newly formed Greek company Defkalion Green Technologies [14] as his first client. According to the agreement Rossi will supposedly deliver a one megawatt heating plant, consisting of 300 reactors of 4 kW [9] connected in series and parallel. The plant which would supply heating for Defkalion's own purposes only, is supposed to be inaugurated in October 2011. [15] Rossi claims he will not be paid by Defkalion until the installation is delivered and works. [16] The company’s spokesman Symeon Tsalikoglou has confirmed the agreement. [17] Defkalion has also been featured on national Greek television [18] and in the national business newspaper Ependitis. [19] According to Defkalion and Rossi the agreement gives exclusive rights for Defkalion to manufacture and sell the energy catalyzer throughout Greece. [17]

He only gets paid if it works, which makes it sound a lot more creditable. I also haven't seen any debunks of the claims made, in fact:

In March 29, 2011 two Swedish physicists, Hanno Essén, associate professor of theoretical physics and a lecturer at the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology and former chairman of the Swedish Skeptics Society and Sven Kullander, Professor Emeritus at Uppsala University and also chairman of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences’ Energy Committee, participated as observers in a test of a smaller version of the Energy Catalyzer. The test ran for six hours and the calculated energy produced was about 25 kWh. [9] In their report [10] they write "Any chemical process should be ruled out for producing 25 kWh from whatever is in a 50 cubic centimeter container. The only alternative explanation is that there is some kind of a nuclear process that gives rise to the measured energy production." According to Lewan[9], they were given a sample of the nickel powder used in the unit as well as some Rossi says have been used for 2.5 months; analysis showed the unused powder was pure nickel while the used powder contained 10 percent copper and 11 percent iron. They prefaced their discussion in the report with a disclaimer: "Since we do not have access to the internal design of the central fuel container and no information on the external lead shielding and the cooling water system we can only make very general comments."

Could this be the real deal? I haven't found any tell tale signs of a hoax yet.

I think that something should be done on a world scale. For example, let's imagine that 5 or 10 countries make contracts with these guys and they simultaneously build many plants in those countries. During the building of the plants, a huge local, world and alternative media coverage is initiated so that if anything like a natural disaster, sabotage or something like that happens, people will know why and will react en mass. The idea is to put TPTB at a deadlock/trap situation - not able to stop it and in the same time not able to continue dominating and controlling the world after that. It is possible that it will lead to war but at least people will know WHY. My idea is that if THEY can play dirty, so can the rest of the world.....

Wow...so it's 200% more efficient than conventional nuclear power? What about the actual cost of the fuels required, are they cheaper or more expensive?

I hope this works, Before there is another meltdown. Solar and wind are inefficient and nuclear is just a nightmare.I used to live near a coal fired plant and even though they were supposed to have scrubbers on their stack when the wind shifted the smell was overwhelming. No wonder there is acid rain down wind of these places.I heard from a guy who used to work at the coal fired plant that most of the time the scrubbers were turned off.Hopefully cold fusion will be non-polluting.Nice find S&F

Good idea man but i think that they will not just release the schematics. They want to make money out of it. That's OK as long as reactors are being constructed and electricity becomes cheaper and cheaper.

Very close to breakeven like all cold fussion claims. There may be a chemical process that produces enough energy to fool the gullible. Chemical bonds break and fuse at room temperatures, nuclear bonds only at plasma temperatures. The fact that they shopped for a legitimate sounding Journal to publish in is a smoking gun to this being a publicity hoax.

Then we can be almost 100% sure that it is a scam..

If they want to make money out of it they must publicly disclose all details about how it works or they won't be able to proof their "prior art" if someone else happens to invent the same thing tomorrow.

There is absolutely no reason to keep anything secret, its even contraproductive.

Weird... I live in Greece and have heard absolutely nothing about it... Shouldn't the government brag about it, if it were true? They are doing a terrible job at everything else, so they should be all over the news bragging and acting like peacocks!!! I am not dismissing the fact that it could be true, I simply find it very suspicious that nobody bothered to inform the Greeks about it!
Oh, I read earlier in this thread an opinion, about solar and wind power not being enough to cover the need of energy in the planet. To my knowledge though, this is not true. Solar and wind power, combined with tidal and wave power are more than enough. Unfortunately though, they do not have a wide margin of profit for the companies, which is the only reason why they are not being used yet. I saw a documentary about it.

If there's a vestige of truth in this and it works, expect to see the price of Nickel ore and Nickel mining company shares going ballistic like Palladium did after the first announcement of cold fusion all those years ago. That pretty much guarantees that this won't be anything like 'free' energy if they succeed as it requires a steady supply of a consumable commodity.

The efficency 1/200 means that you put "IN" ONE and it give "OUT" TWO HUNDREDS.

Fuel cost? Water and Nikel.

So....more like 20,000% more efficient!

I've read it consumed less than a gram of Nickel in a 3 month test. The by-product was pure copper.

Remember:
The Energy Catalyzer device give Heat1 to 200 (hot water), but if you want Electricity from this Heat (hot water) you must divide for two, so 1 to 100.

[qupte]He only gets paid if it works, which makes it sound a lot more creditable. I also haven't seen any debunks of the claims made, in fact:

Well, it would be hard for Defkalion to pay him because I'm pretty sure the company was just set up a few months ago and I doubt they have any money...

Their website created in Janurary

For a different perspective, and some back history on Rossi, you can read my posts in this thread and this thread.

You get all the juicy details, Rossi's fake diploma, fake science journal, dead people working at his company, previous fraud and destruction of the environment, etc, etc, etc.

My prediction: I think his 1mw reactor will work. It will run for a year or two while investors pour in cash. Eventually there will be a problem with how much energy is being produced vs. the amount of metals and chemicals they are buying to run it, then there will be some oddball explanation to explain the plant's downfall.

What? Nickel and hydrogen compared to Uranium / Thorium / plutonium?

*MUCH* cheaper...*MUCH* more abundant...*MUCH*, *MUCH*, *MUCH* etc etc etc *SAFER* and cleaner than nuclear.

And to all the disinfo types / dubunkers...NOW WHAT DO YOU SAY?!!

Suddenly the 'impossible', 'against the laws of physics', 'hoax/conjob' crowd are not such a bunch of big mouths are you...when this was discussed here on ATS a few weeks or so ago...there were the usual bunch of negative loud mouths rubbishing this...where the hell are ya now ?!!

Apologies will be accepted written in blood preferably.

Arken, many thanks for posting the update, much appreciated man.
