The only creepy thing, to me, was near the end where they were all gathered around what appeared to be a representation of the sun. Then they all danced around like some sort of twisted goblin.. well, he did anyway, they just 'tried'.

I know Yoga is intended to be spiritual to some degree, but I always thought it was for inner-peace, not "look like a demon worshiping the sun".

Lots of great replies. It really is all about presentation and most children's shows are creepy. The media has definitely oversensitized pedophilia. In working with children, today we are often instructed to be careful in our touching. Especially during yoga training. Touch is a very controversial issue with people. This video was clearly made awhile ago and would probably not fly today. He is clearly an accomplished yogi with regard to his physicality...and we all have a bit of the creep in us at one time or another. The editing definitely does not help.

You know what scares me the most about this video? The reaction some people in this thread have about it. There's absolutely nothing inappropriate about it. What is supposed to be scary about "the most scary Yoga Video I have ever seen"? The man has been in that business for over 30 years and has there been ONE court case against him for child molestation?

What is just as scary is people being told to be careful about how they touch kids.

Sad but true. In all of the "trainings" I have ever received..whether it was kids fitness, Sunday School, scouting..etc.....this has become more and more emphasized. My daughter's fifth grade teacher (a man) told me that he was cautioned to always be careful about this. It is just the way the world is today.

I will not watch the video, but it sounds like another sick person abusing an art to get off.

People already think yoga is against their religion as if yoga is a religion.
Far as children I have none myself but would not want to be a parent today for the reason is I would be unreasonable when it comes to my kids.

Freinds, teachers janitor bus drivers, instructors gym teachers, dds, doctors, eye examiners, preschool teachers, priests, religious instructors, baby sitters, neighbors, uncles, other kids, sometimes other siblings if there older even spouse can be a potential abuser. You have to know beyond 100% and me Id make the child keep eye contact with me and tell me they are not being touched by athority figures anyone left alone with my kid. Straight in the eye. Kids can't lie.

I'm a high level yoga teacher and honestly other than a 'unique' style of presentation there was nothing in anyway wrong with how he touched those children, it shows how far down the paranoid road we have gone to see anything less than innocent in this.

It might look unusual to someone who doesn't know anything about yoga or movement, but those are everyday yoga poses and adjustments.

Is all touching wrong now?

Don't you mean "touched in an appropriate manner". Since when has "touch" become evil. If my son hurt himself I would not have a problem with any teacher male or female consoling him whether there is touch involved or not. I'm one of those scary parents who think that people are innocent until proven guilty and most people are not child molesters.

Only on this site HorizonMan. Thank goodness

I wonder if any of these parents will let their kids do judo or aikido or any grappling martial arts?

I don't see this guy doing anything wrong in any way. Yeah he's creepy looking, and the shows characters are a bit odd...But I honestly don't see anything carrying sexual innuendos, besides every one else jumping on the bandwagon. Stop reaching so much, you're gonna throw your back out!
I really wonder about you guy's at times...
I'm a parent, btw. I'm not saying I'd allow this guy to touch my child, for I wouldn't allow anyone to be alone with my daughter. BUT as a responsible parent, you don't just do the typical American thing and dump your kid off at some activity while you run off in desperation for your lattes. The problem to me really is parents putting too much trust in individuals, letting their guard down, all for the sake of having a few extra minutes of alone-adult time.

Can you be anymore over dramatic?

It was a chessy low budget yoga show with a bad actor doing yoga. Even the hugs he gave the children was okay. So the show is wierd. That doesn't make him a pedophile.

Of course he may be innocent. Some people objected to Michael Jackson just sleeping with boys and none of the boys said he was intimate with them although they could describe him naked. Was that inappropriate? Im in a minority but I think he was innocent. Children are endearing and I think it was because he also a child at heart and on a level with them, he liked spoiling them and refused to conform to societies high moral standards. People will say that is crap but they are people who cannot conceive of "innocents" people who are really pure of heart and intention. Many of these I am sure are taken wrong. I see out cry over people bathing with and or photographing their own children naked so it can go in the extreme. There is no one size solution no blankets.

Maybe this instructor is innocent and unaware to (I like the poster I copied did not watch the video) I have a weak stomach for passive aggressive molestation - if thats what it was.

Thought this was going to be a Halloween type "scary" thread or I would not have probably opened it Like a ghost in the background or a scary face. Scarys a misleading word op used anyway.
For now to me the guy is innocent and I prefer he stay that way in my mind. This is better
if you know what i mean.

An alter boy for 6 years so let me share some insight, children only know what theyre taught at home and by grownups so. "Appropriate" could certainly be relative to what you are being told at home. Some children are more vulnerable, weaker/ need to be reassured no one will be struck dead if they talk. I was not one of those kids but we criticize harshly Muslim teachings but from a widely accepted religion right here in America, heres an example of what is considered 'appropriate' even today.
Looking up the Moabites and the Ammonites...looked up the word Ham and stumbled upon (know why they call it that) this christian childrens bible website. Here is the story of Lot and his daughters.

www.free-stories.net...

The next day, Lot’s older daughter told the younger daughter,

“I slept with our father last night.

Now it is your turn to go in and lay with him tonight

so that we may have descendants to preserve our family lineage.”

And so the two daughters of Lot made their father drink wine that night.

This time, Lot’s younger daughter went in to lay with him.

Again, Lot was too drunk to realize

And we wonder why our kids have a drinking problem? I expected some sort of a disclaimer but by all accounts these were good daughters and were rewarded with children. I think descendants of them must be heathens but thats for a deamons thread.
This is why a newcovenant
was formed. Being a (Jesus Christ like) Christian is not a bad thing. only adhering to Old Testament theology. Everone with a bible in their house has pornography under their nose.
Just to clarify: Christ said ~forget that OT nonsense ~this is a new contract, ~accept that I am the representative of this new deal. ~then thats it! have faith stand back! something like that.
*Of course you have to be a decent person in not only thought but word and deed so anything like this behavior is out on one or all of those counts. But God would settle all bets. We are not to fight among ourselves ie Peace ~ not grease is the word.
Christ virtually erased those old ideas and especially blood sacrifice which the Mayans continued to embrace long after it was forbidden.
I am not trying to be didactic but children love loving and even little ones will embrace a conspiracy if it makes them a member of a private club. Just them and their abuser. Just my 2cents.

It seems an highly pitiful and miserable yoga program with useless verbiage. A better introduction for kids to what yoga really is would be "The synthesis of Yoga" by Sri Aurobindo. Never underestimate their intelligence.

As a former martial arts instructor you need to look at a couple of things here.

1.) The subject Matter
2.) The subjects

1a.)Yoga as with Martial Arts isn't the most entertaining subject to many if not most people due to the tranquil and meditative nature associated with its practice. Yes we meditate too.

2a.) Children inherently have a very limited attention span.

I had to use an more entertaining approach to teaching children martial arts than adults.

That's apparently what this TV program was attempting to transcend and that is to attempt to teach a relatively serious subject to children.

They attempted to use the cartoon like characters to convey the fundamental concepts of Yoga by associating them with a character....

I didn't find the touching to be suggestive or inappropriate but instead as is the case with martial arts necessary to instill what the proper form feels like to a beginning practitioner. It is necessary to embed this into the subconscious and allowing it to later become second nature.

Similar to ice skating or riding a bicycle. Words cannot describe it , You have to experience what feels right.
I see you are Canadian, Do you think professional hockey players think about their skating for example ? No, because it's second nature.

And as for the sensationalist title of this thread ...."Possibly the Most Scary Yoga Video I have ever seen" ....

I would beg to differ. It depends on what your opinion of what exactly constitutes "Scary" is.

Boo !

I agree with the posters whom feel nothing is "scary" about this video. Well, other than the budget the show was given to produce the sets and costumes. The "farmer" is merely trying to take something that kids see as very boring (yes I am sorry but kids see sitting still and stretching as boring) and make it exciting for them in order to get them interested in yoga.

As for the hugging I can see nothing wrong. Notice the way he bends his waist sharply back? This posture offers for a chance to hug the children while at the same time keeping his groin as far away from them as possible. I use that very same posture to hug certain adults because of that distance it creates so I don't see anything wrong with him having that posture with children.

I remember a discussion once about what age is appropriate to take a young female child to a gynecologist. The mother was actually worried that the exam might include touching that wasn't appropriate at the young girl's age! That is a fine example of someone buying the government's whole "everyone in the whole world is out to rape, mutilate, dismember, and otherwise harm your child even you" mentality they are promoting lately. The answer btw is that a child is never to young to go to a gynecologist or any other doctor if that child suffers from a medical issue which needs treatment.

Not sure on this video clip. The start seems like regular yoga, but that lick-your-lips "mmm" sounds at the end do give me the creeps.
That clip asks a very sexualized web generation: "What is exercise, and the boundaries there-of?"
Many yoga teachers have already replied that correcting adult postures is only done by verbal agreement.
So I guess today that would be inappropriate.
To expand: What is the limit of humor?
Here a clip from a classic comedy titled Airplane.
I first saw this when I was a kid myself, but the obvious pedophile pilot now gives me the creeps.
Would anybody still find this funny today?

what I like about this thread is how it exposes all you morinic headless chicken repeaters who scream peado at anyone who works with children, just like every muslim is a terrorist.
