This brought to you courtesy of PressTV - Iranian Propoganda

PressTV - Pvt. Manning needs British consular visit

This is supposedly Pvt. Manning. I dont think it looks anything like him -

Propoganda purposes aside I do find it funny that Iran is condemning the US for our prison system. Whats even better is the UN comission on torture, who is pissed because we wont allow them access to manning. I dont see that UN agency beating down IRans front door, does anyone else?

As far as Obama goes, as I said before he is in Mannings chain of command as commander in chief. The trial is coming up in about 2 months (June / July). Any involvement of Obama is going to be undue command influence. There is a reason the military has a chain of command, in addition to the UCMJ.

I wish people would understand and accept those things before making arguments about this or that (not directed at people in the thread, but the talking heads on tv / papers / etc). Contrary to popular belief, we are a sovereign nation and are not usbject to UN commands or directives.

Manning has made comments about ending his life. The issue is, even if he was joking, the comments have to be taken seriously. If they are not, and the guy kills himself, the prison will be held accountible.

How is treason defending the Constitution? How is failing to obey the lawful orders of the people apoointed over you defending the Consitution? How is providing material support and aid to an enemy defending the Constitution? How is releasing classified information that has nothing to do with wrong doing based solely on the fact manning was pissed the army and his fellow soldiers did not like him defending the Constitution?

Wow, that is a lot of accusations against Manning...................You being a LEO, and having a history of posts admonishing others for not knowing the laws, do YOU have proofs of these accusations, you know court testimony? Do you have proof that Manning threatened suicide, something he wrote or said to someone other than the individuals violating his rights?

You are aware of innocent until proven guilty, right? Do you treat suspects as manning has been treated? Suspects...People accused of crimes, but not yet CONVICTED.

this is almost frightening, knowing that I live in Michigan also, and could encounter someone like yourself, with no regard for the Constitution. It's funny though, you seem to bring up the 4th Ammendment a lot in your posts, you know, the one which forbids us movement during interogation/questioning by a LEO.
So, you do believe in some of the constitution, at least the part with the police powers in it.

Well, he has been charged to date, and is currently awaiting trial to determine guilt or innocence. Me being a LEO has nothing to do with military trials, since they operate under compltely different rules, from treament of the suspect, to rules of evidence, to what can be admitted in court, to who can testify to what as an expert witness based on specialty or command experience.

My comments are based of the actions and charges to date. If he is found not guilty, then I will be more than happy to come back in and appologize for my opinion.

As far as how I treat people, I would suggest you take some time and actually learn the difference between Law enforcement, the Prosecuting Attorneys office, The Provost Martial Office, and a military brig.

I submit the charges to the PA, who is empowered to change, dismiss, add, reduce as they see fit. I ahve nothing to do with any person who is accused and is waiting in pre trial confinement, or jail in the civilian world.

As a side note, before you decide to admonish me, maybe you should place my response in context based on the questions I was responding to. But thank you for blowing it out of proportion and attempting to go down the fear monger argument by invoking my profession, and then attempting to falsely accuse me of how I treat people based on my opinion on this one topic.

Contrary to popular belief, I have my own opinions, and those opinions do not reflect in the manner I do my job.

As far as being in Michigan, I have not lived there for sometime now.. I got tired of paying a massive amount in taxes so the State so they could hand it out to whomever asked for a handout.
