The troubles in Israel continue in a bid for land for Jewish settlers and Palestinians. Israeli leaders including Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced in December that they planned a to withdraw from Gaza and four West Bank settlements by 2005. Today as many as 150,000 Israelis joined hands in an estimated 55 mile long human chain to protest the Gaza pullout plan...

Israelis joined hands Sunday and formed a 55-mile-long human chain that stretched from Gaza to Jerusalem, protesting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Gaza withdrawal plan.

Organizers expected up to 150,000 Israelis to form the human chain, about the same number as participated in a pro-withdrawal demonstration in Tel Aviv two months ago.

Turnout appeared to be near expectations, with few gaps in the chain. Israel Army Radio quoted police officials as estimating 70,000 people actually took part. Israel TV's Channel Two gave an estimate of 130,000.

This could only add to the tensions in the region. Land for a guarnteed Palestinian state is being held by Jewish settlers who seem unwilling to move. So the peace plan seems to suffer yet another defeat.

Some Israelis see giving up their settlements as making consessions with terrorists. Thus a pull out from the area is unacceptable.

Israeli far-right terror plots are uncovered that included a terrorist attack to destroy the Dome of the Rock, located on the Temple Mount and other Islamic religious sites or attacks on Arab people.

Internal Security Minister Tzachi Hanegbi warned yesterday that Jewish extremists may try to carry out an attack against Arabs or the mosques on Jerusalem's Temple Mount in order to torpedo Israel's planned unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

"We sense that the threat level on the Temple Mount by extremist and fanatic Jewish elements... has increased in the last few months, and especially in the last few weeks, more than any time in the past," Hanegbi told Channel Two television's Meet the Press program.

Haaretz quoted security sources who said that they were dealing with possible scenarios, including an attempt to crash a drone packed with explosives on the Temple Mount, or a manned suicide attack with a light aircraft during mass Muslim worship on the Mount. Another possibility includes an attempt to assassinate a prominent Temple Mount Muslim leader, perhaps from the Waqf Islamic trust, the paper reported.

The Israeli far-right movement is the main blockade to the path of peace on their side. Once again terror attacks are feared coming from them. Remember the last Israeli President who gave land back to the Palestinians... Rabin was shot by an Israeli right-wing fundamentalist terrorist. Sharon could be next.
