This article that I found on Bloomberg is very interesting and has some solid reasons, as well as some funny ones why a government shutdown is not such a bad Idea. The author of the article makes some good points.

No links, and wow this thread could be alot better since the government shutdown is relatively important and the outcome of it could be a striking point for someone wit a grudge against the us. Everyone says we had this issue in 95 and 96 so its not that big of a deal. But we really didnt have so many people against america, even though it could be artificial, but still leaves a good time to mess with the US, and escalate the situation.
