I think that is an excellent political strategy as well.

It keeps the focus off other more substantial things. It wastes time and resources on a red herring, and it kind of funnels your opponents into a false basket of hope. When you spring the rebuttal on them later, they are left with no wind in their sails, and you can move on with your original agenda unimpeded.

I think Trump has some terrific attributes, such as his capitalist and hardball business experience, but he is a divisive character, people love or hate him, so he better be very careful about doing down the wrong rabbit hole.

I will give Trump this...he has made a big splash and has focused all the attention on him. I'm betting the other republican potential candidates are hating that right now.

As far as investigating Obama...you would think if Obama is really as bad of a President as all the republicans say he is...then they wouldn't even have to bother with silly "birther" issues. But it appears that is all they have...attempt to disqualify him or bring up fake impeachment charges.

I live in Las Vegas and have certainly seen more than one or two go bankrupt over the last 20 years.
Tell me how the Station Casino's are saying they are bankrupt among many others so no Donald is not alone when it comes to casino's failing and it happens more often than you think.

Obama has nothing to gain from showing anything right now. What motive does he have right now...to please a very very very small portion of the population that thinks he was born in Kenya??? He knows, just as we all do, that nothing will satisfy this group of people...a video of his birth with palm trees and a volcano in the background wouldn't be enough proof for birthers.

So he is doing the right thing...which is nothing...until it will serve a purpose. That will be when a republican candidate has commited themselves so much to the birther argument that it will crush them when he reveals his long form cert...or if a state passes a law that requires him to show it to get on the ballot.

Until then...tough cookies...he doesn't have to show anything.

I want to see his birth certificate, the authentic one, not some photocopy and think that providing that material prior to being put on an ballot or receiving FEC funds should be a requirement.

I am also interested in seeing what he put on his applications to prep school, college and law school. I think there is a distinct possibility that he was in fact born in Hawaii, but in order to receive preferential treatment relative to admissions or scholarships that he in fact listed him self as foreign born. That is fraud and an impeachable offence.

There are enough open questions regarding his birth status and how that status was used that require public disclosure.

I'm also tired of this business that he has his own privacy rights. He has to produce his annual medical evaluations, he can not be sued, there are already items for which he is either denied or granted the different rights as other citizens.

If Trump does find something, all you will learn is that Obama has decided for family reasons not to run for reelection. Thats it.

CNN is trying to help cover up information, on the The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer they carried a story today on the Obama birth certificate issue. In the report they stated that vital statistics in Hawaii do not issue out original birth certificates, that is an out right lie. If it is applied for they will issue the full birth certificate with all pertinent information on who the doctor was that delivered the baby, time of birth, weight, length, surnames of both parents their place of birth and so on.
CNN is nothing more than a propaganda News channel.
In this program today it is CNN trying to deny what Trump is saying.

It may be that there is just something embarrassing on Obama's birth certificate that he does not want everyone to know. Perhaps he was born with an extra toe or something of that sort.

Donald Trump spending money to try to find out whether the President was born in this country is as silly as the first ladies' 700 dollar shoes.

If it does turn out that he wasn't born here in America, well, what's the difference? It wouldn't be the only lie he has told. No one needs to hire a team of investigators to show that.

Good God, I hope Trump isn't actually running.....I hope this is one big, fat publicity stunt. This man is just as shady as the next guy, and the only reason he's throwing away all this money to "uncover the truth" is because we all buy into it and get him more publicity and attention which means more money for him.
