Mystery object brings town to standstill

BRIDGWATER nearly came to a standstill yesterday – when crowds gathered by Town Bridge to check out an unidentified object in the River Parrett.

Cars parked on yellow lines and on grass in a rush to see the mystery object. The news broke on this website and now a debate has broken out about what it might have been.

Some people waited for around two hours and said they did not see the object removed and believe it is still in the river.

Mercury reporter Angela Brennan returned to the scene today and could find no sign of the object.

Coral Pople told the Mercury at the scene yesterday: “I’ve been here for 45 minutes. Everyone was saying it was a turtle – but it looks more like a pig to me.”

I have no idea what it is, the object/animal is still a mystery, it doesnt look like any sort of fish ive ever seen, not sure about it being a turtle either ?

maybe its another dead nuclear physicist, or intelligence agent, or microbiologist?

People watched for 2 hours and that's the only picture anyone got?

It's still hard to tell what it is....my guess would be the carcass of an animal which has been in the water a while, and is bloated etc.

Looks like Man Bear Pig to me.

In one of the comments was posted,
At low tide they could see it was a dead sheep caught up on a log.

Just a wild guess... 'terrapin' ?

I can't really trust the images however, one in the OP's link shows a wake behind a terrapin looking shape (I don't think logs or bloated carcases can create a wake such as that against a current as they are - excuse the pun - dead objects)

It could if it was a dead sheep caught on a log, and the current was going AGAINST it.....wouldn't it?

Indeed it can, but the wake in the image is not consistant with what you are inclining towards.(better image a few posts down from OP's) Also other news sources state the object had disappeared so the comment left by ms ratty may not be 100% true (If I drove over the bridge I would only have time for a quick look - police/hundreds of bystanders couldnt work it out)

I would like definitive proof but as we dont, hehe

I say it's a chupacabre We will never know most likely...unless another shows up. But what was up with the turtle with the pig head stuck on it Some things are better left a mystery.... **eerie music**
