Found this very intetesting.

m.networkworld.com...

Just a sample from the link. I doubt its far from the truth.

the following are characteristics that qualifies a person as a potential domestic terrorist:
Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
Survivalist literature (fictional books such as "Patriots" and "One Second After" are mentioned by name)
Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
  Homeschooling
Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
Belief in a New World Order conspiracy

So basically anybody interested in asking questions or defending themselves.

CCW, check.
Stockpiling food and ammo, check.
Interest in survivalist info, check.
Homeschooling, check......kinda. We've got about 5 years to worry about that, haha.
Fear of economic collapse, check. In fact, how is the Government NOT worried about this themselves?

Yeah this sounds like the beginnings of a Bill that will make the Patriot Act look consensual intercourse.

According to this list, I would estimate about 90% of us on ATS are terrorists.

You can recognize us by our secret greeting: WTF?

Welcome to my world, won't you come on in...

This attitude of the establishment(s) is an old one which is (TOO slowly!!) becoming more realised today.
Back in the 60's, when some of my friends were fighting against the nukes going through britain, anyone disagreeing with such things in public, were assumed to be a threat and placed on a list to be watched.
'Funnily' enough, all those I knew who participated in demonstrations outside the US bases in Greenham Common in the 80's have all since died of the same form of cancer...not suprisingly, it was recently released (I can't find a link and tbh, don't care if anyone believes it or not - enough know the truth and still there will never be recompense) that they were 'testing' a new microwave tech that was supposed to simply deter the protesters...hmm.

The world is a dangerous place, we all knew that already. What most are now realising, sadly far too late, is that it gets even more hazardous to the health the more one begins to openly disagree with The Powers That Be...it starts with little things to shut you up and ultimately can end with a fatality, depending on what level one is prepared to go to, to voice their dissent.

Once there were dissidents, now there are only [home-grown] terrorists; the latter having no recourse to the Law, conveniently enough...

For that matter, you will never see the light of day again!
Do YOU accept?
By the way, acceptance is COMPULSORY!

I'm surprised being a member of ATS wasn't a requirement, but I'm sure most of us fit the bill.

To see myself potentially labeled a terrorist by the most premier terrorist organization on the planet is actually quite a compliment.

There is NO larger nor more prolific terror organization on Earth than the US government........NONE.

They can visit my YKK any damn time they'd like...

Jeebus! Youre sayin they used a micro wave device against the unknowing protesters who then all got a particular form of cancer?
We need to research that! The Goverment at least owes those people an apology, and their medical bills plus a healthy dose of compensation!
This is the attitude that goverments develope against their people.
It always rears its ugly head when the people get too trusting and allow the goverment free reign over them.
\it is inevitably followed by a pogram of the people who run the goverment .Sooner or later, and the longer it takes to foment, the worse and more bloody it becomes.
The aftermath of the French ravolution will look like a school picnic if we allow the present incumbants to rule us for much longer either!

Would put my hand up if I could afford some of those things. Heh.

Yup. I'm a terrorist. Especially on that second-to-last one.

They are our employees rather than our rulers. Once people see that as reality, it's step 1 towards fixing the problem. Revolution is OK as well...

Well, at least you're staying skeptical about any claims you hear...really, did I just miss anything resembling evidence of some random mans assertion about what definitions the DHS use or is it not there?

Just a hunch, but when they mention those characteristics, they're talking about actual extremists. For example, let's say someones telling you about the characteristics of OCD (Obsessive–compulsive disorder), one of which could be excessive hand washing or nail biting, they're not saying people who bite their nails or wash their hands, even frequently, are mentally ill, but it may be a symptom and a sign of illness. Do you understand this point I'm trying to make?
