I,just know in the beginning,it was just man, mankind made religion. then it became jews and gentile........jesus was born out of the jewish tribes....Religion can sometimes keep us from God,god isn't religion. he is perfection. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Matthew 5:8

For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them. But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
Matthew 13:15-16

If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.
Isaiah 7:9 novan.com... saw this article, very interesting, "Separating God from Religion"

by Donald L. Hamilton

Religions are simply the outgrowth of ancient myths and dogmas handed down from
generation to generation and formalized into faiths, rituals and traditions.
Ever since the dawn of mankind, when God revealed the possiblity of his existence to mankind by giving humans a powerful imagination, people have wondered about their origins. Where did we come from? Who created us? Over the centuries, to answer these very basic questions, our storytellers have invented many myths, stories and dogmas. Religions are simply the outgrowth of these ancient myths and dogmas handed down from generation to generation and formalized into faiths, rituals and traditions.

Human Imagination, mankind's "special sense", is the power that separates mankind from all the other animals on Earth - it is made possible by a powerful brain, capable of comprehending the wonders of nature and the world we live in. Mankind now had the power to begin to comprehend the beauty that surrounded it. Something must have created all this magnificient beauty. I can "see" for myself, through my imagination, the beauty of its creations - it is everywhere I look. In order to understand the true nature of God, the Creator of the universe, we must separate the myths of mankind from the physical evidence of God's existence.

The "Secular God", (God without the religious myths), the creator of the universe and father of life is an infinitely powerful creative force who knows no bounds and exists everywhere. Nothing is impossible for this creative power, his power extends - even beyond the universe.

When we take away religion, with all its myths and stories, etc. from the realm of God what is left? Evidence of a "Secular God's" existence is all around us - the primary evidence of God's existence is the beauty of its creations that we can see and experience.

God created "Nature", the physical laws of nature (physics, chemistry and biology) that guides everything within the universe, including mankind! Our lives are completely dominated by the laws of inertia and gravity (and all the other laws of nature). We cannot see the laws but we certainly know they exist by the effects they produce. (The law of gravity will make us - if we are not constantly supported by the floor or ground, immediately become weightless and began accelerating toward the center of the earth.)

The "Secular God" brought the universe into existence by creating the Laws of Nature - where these laws end - the universe ends. We can use Nature's laws for our benefit but if we don't use them wisely they can quickly bring catastrophe. The laws exist everywhere within the universe and are completely invariant, we have the power to use them - but we cannot break any law of nature! By understanding the laws of nature we are beginning to learn the true nature of God.

Nature governs the universe through its physical laws - these laws are perfect and invariant - they are unbreakable. Everything within the universe are governed by these laws. The unique personality of the universe is created by the laws of nature. What would our universe be without inertia or gravity or for that matter - biology? No stars or life (as we know it) could exist without these fundamental laws of nature.

The beauty and splendor of nature lies before us to behold and comprehend. Mankind's imagination - made possible the inventions of the wireless communication, the telescope, microscope and scientific investigation. These inventions allowed mankind to peer into secret exotic worlds of nature - astronomy, cosmology, physics, chemistry, microbiology, electromagnetic spectrum, etc. that we never even knew existed before. What tremendous power created all this physical phenomena and natural wonders that we constantly encounter (and there may be more that we haven't discovered yet).

Religions on the other hand, are guides for living our lives morally - rules made to persuade us to get along with each other - under the threat of eternal damnation or eternal happiness in heaven. Mankind creates political and religious rules - God creates the physical laws. We can choose, whether or not, we wish to obey mankind's rules - but we must obey God's laws (nature's laws) - we have no choice in that area. (You cannot step out of a window and decide to fall up rather then down. Nature's laws always prevail).

Religions are tremendously powerful influences that control and guide the lives of billions of people in the world today. Some have done tremendous harm over the ages, (wars, inquisitions, torture, terrorism, and even human sacrifice) and some have done tremendous good by creating beautiful religious traditions and civilized moral codes (the ten commandments, etc.) to guide their followers.

Be skeptical - be careful which religious beliefs, myths and dogmas you follow. You can either choose to believe these stories or not. Just remember they are all put forth by human storytellers. Religions are based on faith and do have a definite place in our society for moral guidance, marriage rituals and burial services, etc. - but never take religion too literally - there is no proof of physical evidence that any of these myths are true.

Throughout the ages of mankind there have always been storytellers (prophets, priests, mullahs, etc.) who have created myths and magical fantasies in trying to explain the mysteries that surrounded them. Basically mankind is a storytelling animal - people have created stories to answer every possible question that has ever occurred to mankind whether there is or is not any evidence.

The main problem with religion is they were written by men who said God told them to write their words down. The only trouble with that is people are corrupt! They are great storytellers, some may be true but others are either embellishments or out right lies! Why would you believe what men write down and tell you - "this is the word of God" - maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Only through your faith can you believe them - there is no proof in any of them. If you have faith in their writings - that they truly are the word of God - then you can believe though faith in that religion.

The evil side of many religions written by men for example are:

The Aztec priests told their followers that God told them to cut the hearts out of their victims. Can you believe that thousands of Aztecs for hundreds of years did believe this nonsense and had their hearts cut out in that religion.
On 9/11 some radical Muslim leaders told the hijackers that if they would fly their airliners full of innocent people into and destroy the world trade center, killing everyone on board and the thousands in the center, they would go straight to paradise. Do you believe this was the word of God? Do you believe that God, the Creator of the universe would reward these people? Billions of muslims unfortunately do believe this nonsense.
During the dark ages thousands of Christian people were accused of being witches or heretics and were tortured and burnt to death at the stake by Chrisian leaders to save their souls. Do you believe God or Jesus told them to do that?
There are many other examples of religious human and animal sacrifices and practices that came and went over the ages. Its the naive people who are easily persuaded by some smooth talking religious storytellers that give them their power no matter how ridiculous their ideas are.

The only true "word of God" are the physical "Laws of Nature" some which were discovered by the great science philosophers such as Newton, Archimedes, Kepler, Copernicus, Einstein, etc.. and can predict future events. Even here some of these laws may not be entirely correct and may have to be changed in the future. These ideas are truly the word of "God the Creator of the Universe" and have evidence to back them up..

The prophets and storytellers, since ancient times, have always tried to explain the mysteries that they encountered in life - by creating Gods. The God of lightning, the God of thunder, etc. etc.. To get peoples attention and make their stories much more powerful these storytellers claim to have a direct link with God or their Gods. God talks to no one - anyone who says God talked to him or her - is either mentally disturbed or telling stories. Mankind is full of these storytellers!

The storytellers created powerful myths and dogmas to guide people in a moral and civilized manner or just to control people to do their bidding, by saying their stories were the 'Word of God' or this is the "Will of God" or you will go to Hell if you don’t follow these teachings. (These are all extremely powerful concepts that have strongly influenced people throughout the ages.)

As for "knowing" if a true supreme infinitely intelligent all powerful ‘Creative Power’ really exists, a ‘Power’ that created everything within our universe. There is plenty of physical evidence all over the place that there is, just open your eyes and look around.

If we are similar to God’s image and likeness in any way, it is only through our powerful imagination and nothing else. (Why would God let himself be hampered by a body). Our imagination gives us the power to create. Mankind is an extension of nature's incredible power to create - we create things that nature, in itself, cannot.

Our incredible imagination is our link with God - without it we would know nothing of the possibility of God's existence nor would we be able to comprehend the wonders of his works.

You can either acknowledge the possibility of a Supreme Creator's existence, or ignore him. I don't think it really matters to him one way or the other. I prefer to believe that God not only exists but has purposely revealed his wonders to mankind by giving modern humans a powerful imagination (and an insatiable curiosity) that enabled them to comprehend nature's magnificent wonders.

Physical evidence (tools, artifacts, paintings etc.) indicates that this "transformation" of mankind - into an imaginative species - happened around 50 thousand years ago - this is when mankind became imaginative. (new evidence discovered in South Africa now indicates that mankind became imaginative around 70,000 years ago.) Later the "MIND" of mankind came into being when these imaginative humans developed sophisticated languages that allowed them to communicate their ideas among one another.

By allowing the "special sense" of creative imagination to evolve within humans - the Supreme Creator, (‘God’) has made people very special in the order of things. Mankind is unique among the animals on Earth, no other animal has this powerful creative imagination. Imaginative human beings, for better or worse are the culmination of three and a half billion years of evolution of life on Earth.

Nature's phenomena of life - including the possible eventual evolution of an imaginative species, follows nature's laws of evolution exactly - including the dead ends and extinctions. Life on other planets may have evolved in different directions - according to the conditions encountered on those planets, but the laws are the same throughout the universe. Life simply follows the laws of biology and evolution. Remember the laws of nature are invariant. Evolution does not necessarily progress in a straight even line - there are many dead ends, mistakes and reversals - but in the end - evlolution and biology are governed by the laws of nature and will progress accordingly.

Human imagination may have allowed mankind to have a “free will” to a certain extent, but we also have our “human nature” with all its idiosyncrasies to deal with and all the storytellers constantly trying to influence us from the time we are born until the time we die, to contend with, so why should God get upset when our human frailty prevails.

God is not concerned about our "sins", only we humans should be concerned. They do not effect God one way or the other. It is only for our own good that we should try to get along with each other. If we fail here on Earth (our little speck of space dust) and life is wiped out - God has trillions of other planets to watch over.

Even though this is true - I believe, if we ask for his guidance he will give it. After all - we are very special in his eyes since he revealed himself only to mankind by giving us a powerful imagination. Human Imagination is our only link to our Creater! God has given mankind the power to be the master of its own destiny - within limits.

An example of the awesome mind of God and His omnipresence. Last year after the burial of my mum and dad I hired a small car. It was a # box and very dangerous to drive, it cost me 300.00 for 2 weeks. After 3 days of driving it my nerves were shattered. I then read the fine print about paying for damage etc etc. I was totally confused about driving it and had bad gut feelings....basically didnt know what to do as I had spent the money. A few days later while going through my parents belongings and mine as I moved in to their home and was clearing and cleaning I found a card mum and dad gave me 11 years ago on my birthday. Inside they wrote best wishes to me but the written typed message from card related to cars as I liked fiddling with cars. It read something like '' Stay off the roads as the world will be safer without you on them '' Well after reading that written 11 years before at the moment of my car dilema I took the advice left the car in the drive way and they came and collected it the week later. Its as if God knew my dilema 11 years in advance and gave me a message to help me work it out awesome and incredible

Upon searching for Christ and striving with your heart and soul to fight off our sins and corruption the Holy Spirit will be given to you as a gift to help you and more importantly as evidence of the truth which is of great comfort especially as we grow old and tire of life

I must admit I am not sure that Jesus was an actual person or if he is a myth bringing lessons or a combination of both but I am at peace with what I believe, as you are at peace with what you believe. A long and arduous journey to seek and find our own truth for me "time teaches us the error of our ways".

Jesus was in tune with the universal mind of god, he understood that he could tap into anytime because he knew he was part of that mind. He also tried to teach humanity that we too are the mind of god and he gave instruction on how to achieve it..by keep the first 2 commandments in the Bible which are to "love"

In the Vedas (Hindu Scriptures) it state that God has NO PREFERENCE for ANY person - whether they are his followers or NOT, that he sees ALL entities (humans/plants/animals/and yes even the "aliens" - creatures who live on the heavenly planets.) as the same equal energy.

I like that concept.

Why do you think God is a religion? Religion is only a source of knowing God or even understanding God.

This site might help you to open your eyes to possibilities... reluctant-messenger.com...

Quoting different sources from each religion before revealing the definition.

Taoism
Tao, the subtle reality of the universe cannot be described, That which can be described in words is mearly a conception of the mind. Although names and descriptions have been applied to it, the subtle reality is beyond the description.
Tao Teh Ching - beginning of chapter 1

The subtle essense of the universe is elusive and evasive.
...
It is the subtle origin of the whole of creation and non-creation. It existed prior to the beginning of time as the deep and subtle reality of the universe. It brings all into being.
Tao Teh Ching - portions of chapter 21

Buddhism
"There is, O monks, an unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, unformed. Were there not, O monks, this unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, unformed, there would be no escape from the world of the born, originated, created, formed.

"Since, O monks, there is an unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, and unformed, therefore is there an escape from the born, originated, created, formed."
The Gospel of Buddha - Sermon at the bamboo grove at Rajagaha

Hinduism
Neither the multitude of gods nor great sages know of my origin, for I am the source of all the gods and great sages.

A mortal who knows me as the unborn, beginningless great lord of the worlds is freed from all delusion and all evils.
The Bhagavad-Gita - The tenth teaching, verses 2 & 3

Sihkism
There is One, only One Supreme Being, Truth Eternal, Creator of all seen & unseen, Fearless, Without hatred, Timeless Being, Non-Incarnated, Self created, Realized by the Grace of Guru (Perfect Master Only.)
Guru Granth Sahib Page 1

Judaism
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

For thus saith the Eternal that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the self existent One; and there is none else.
Isaiah 45:18

Christianity
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without him was not one thing made that has come into being.
Gospel of John 1:1-3

Sufism
You are the Absolute Existence which causes (our) transient (existences) to appear.
Masnavi - Book 1 - Creator and Creation

Now, a definition of God.
God is the indescribable, uncreated, self existent, eternal all knowing source of all reality and being.
........................

Not my work by the way, thats from the site i gave you...

God isn't a religion as you can see quoted by the religions of the world...

I don't think god is a religion..I don't think god is a person..I'm not sure that god actually has a name..I've studied all of those religions you listed..this has a been a quest I have been on since a near death experience I had back in the 90's it changed my view on religion life and death..I only wish others to consider that "we are the brain of god"
collectively all of us make up the "mind" of god..or universal spirit/great spirit and any of the other names he/she is called Thank you for your post it was very informative..cheers coco

I know your thread here has aged a bit, but just looking through it briefly, I don't see that anyone's hit you up with this yet. Given your thought on the universe possibly being a part of the mind of god - or the like - I'm reminded of the end scene of one of the Men in Black films where it expands further and further out to show something along the same lines.

Then we've got this, which I like better than the images you had

Cool thanks for stopping by my thread..I'm sorry that it didn't go to well it's such a far out idea really that it's hard to get your mind around..but this is what I believe..we are part of the mind what makes up the mind of god..just my theory based on the things that have happened to me in my own life.

(A Brain Cell is the Same as the Universe)..wow now that's what I was trying to show everyone! what a great find..as for the movie I haven't seen MIB in so long I'll have to go back and watch it again..I can't really comment on it because I can't recall what happens in the end..again thanks for stopping in Cheers coco

Sure thing, dear, and this is one of the ideas I'm arguing with myself about right now (has some funny tie-ins to 'The Far Side' as well *wink*).

Lets do Temple of Yahweh. The Universe is a system of balance and rebirth in a perpetual state. We here are suppose to do the same. The brain is the same sort of system. Heaven of Earth. Petrodollar recycling is an attempt in doing just that. My using this as an example because you and I are having a conversation touching on the subject in another venue.

Balance and rebirth in a perpetual state is a repetitious theme found throughout the biosphere and interconnected and closed systems within. Weather is a prime example. Even our crust undergoes the same processes. The Moon orbits the Earth in harmony, but solar flares seem like chaos, but then charges the system that spins the core creating a protective bubble protecting Earth from solar flares. Oops, that's just a wild theory. At any rate it fits the universal theme of the Universe. Gestation of chaos is to provide the birth of harmony.

What seems like chaos is actually an organized system, all of it. Libertarianism is based on this idea, so it's obviously found in our politics too. The "lava lamp" approach. Energy = motion. Motion is kinetic energy and thus will organize itself following the path of least resistance organizing itself in a perpetual state. Such as gold flowing down stream until it finds its glory hole, and so does light energy when it hits the gold all except for the color of gold which reflects into the eye of admiration and finds a home as a neuron inside the admires eye. Okay maybe it's a greed neuron.
Greed creates chaos and eventually can birth emotional harmony after a process of spiritual collapse. There you go... the same theme.

Anyway great thread.
I wish I would have read it sooner back when this thread was active.

They got that from Dr. Kaku. It's a jar of marble I think is the way he puts it. He uses the analogy for his multiverse theory, and I think MIB was more the idea of the Universe being a closed system. Now Buckaroo Banzai on the otherhand.... well ya got to see it. It deals with String.
