So,
we all know I strongly recommend everyone switch to Ubuntu..
and I will provide all the help i can to anyone who decides to do so. lol

But the point of this post...

Is for all windows users...

One thing you should do, If you have not already done so..
Is go into Control panel>system> (I think, been awhile since I used windows), and once your in the "system" window, Click on the tabs [i forget which one, sorry] at the top until you see "Remote desktop connection" .
(or something like that)

There will be a checkbox by this, and in windows, by default, it is enabled~ so the box is checked.

Disable this.
Uncheck the box.

Windows has enough open back doors as it is..
but this is just one thing that can/will make it super easy for someone to gain access.
Often times full access. lol

Please,
Disable 'remote desktop'.
Do not allow anyone the luxury of being able to turn their PC into yours.
(meaning access and see everything on your PC.)

Now where were we
.....

Oh yea...
Ubuntu!~

Better, easier/more intuitive, safer, faster, smoother, sexier, stronger, etc ..

daft punk just popped into my head...
Work It Harder Make It Better
Do It Faster, Makes Us stronger
More Than Ever Hour After
Our Work Is Never Over

lol

I only do it cuz I love yous. lol

Well that makes me happy. I waited years to buy a laptop, because I was told they are unreliable and don't last. Good to hear you say otherwise.

I have tried the trackpoint, but it takes some getting used to. My cursor flies around the screen when I use it.

haha!
Yeah, a quick jump into your mouse settings, and to the 'trackpoint' tab,
and you can change the speed/sensitivity, etc.

I always have to set it to my needs upon a fresh install, otherwise it's waay too fast. lol

Thinkpads are more like business grade laptops, hearty, long lasting, workhorses.
But the majority of other laptops on the market today are mostly all "consumer grade"..

Which don't last nearly as long, and are not as capable.

With consumer grade laptops..
The normal life span (with average users) seems to be about 3-5 years (waayy too short). lol
But business grade laptops, the average lifespan seems to be a good 7+ years..
I mean, take my old thinkpad 600E for instance, that thing is 13 years old and still going strong. lol

But I know people who have bought new laptops (consumer grade),
and within a year or 2 they are out having to buy another.
(which they could most likely avoid if they just removed windows and installed a real OS.) lol

So yeah, Most laptops on the market today are not really made to last, it's true.
But you got a good one! So I think you'll get years and years of use from it.

But if you want to keep it going 100% strong until the day it is obsolete....
Think about changing that virus ,.. err, i mean operating system, to a proper OS. lol
