Greetings my fellow ATS Freemasons. I know that I have clashed with some of you in the past, and I would like to bury the hatchet.
While I still maintain my belief that secrecy has no where in government, even if it masquerades as privacy, I have made acquaintance with too many of you who happen to be some of the kindest and most generous verbal wordsmiths to be found here at ATS.

I would like first to thank IAMIAM from breaking my virulent distaste of the craft.

Now... I come to you for help.

A friend recently stopped by with a Masonic belt buckle.
He simply desires to know the history of the buckle. What it represents. Where it is from, etc....

You get the picture.

I greatly appreciate your time in this manner.

And once again... I apologize (Augustus Masonicus) for my childish behavior.

I hope that you see fit to help us out.

Here is the picture of the front of the belt buckle:

Here is a picture of one side of the back of the belt buckle:

Here is a picture of the other side of the back of the belt buckle:

Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

not to be picky, but could you take some clearer pictures? I can identify that it is masonic, and has the main symbols on the front, but I cannot say any more than that based on the clarity.
sorry.

It represents the symbolism of a Master Mason (third degree). The Master Mason symbol is there (square, compass, Letter G), along with the working tools of Masonry. I've seen similar belt buckles before, I think Macoy sells them.

This has the serial number on the buckle is 868 and it was made by the great American Buckle Company.

It is copyrighted for 1981.

Thanks for the information. If this changes anything, then let me know. If not then I greatly appreciate your time.

The symbols appear to be (clockwise from the top center) Square & Compasses, with the G, along with an open Bible, a plumb bob, one of the two pillars, the common gavel, the 24" gauge, the trowel, the other pillar, and the level. I can't easily see which pillar is which from either the large photo or the small one on the store's site, but they're Jachin & Boaz.

My guess is Boaz, from its lack of terrestrial features.

No worries. I have been following your posts on Proto's Rome thread, great work there.

Masonic Light and Josh have pretty much got the symbolisim down for you and are correct in their assessments.
