I'm going to start by thanking YouTube for providing such a great service. The ads are minimal and you can see some great stuff there. I know its a business and a profitable one at that but I still appreciate it.

So at work the other day one of the guys decides he wants to show me something he is sure I'll appreciate because I'm a gun enthusiast and collect edged weapons as a hobby. I hear a gun going off sounded like a .50 then I see a body flying. then another one, and another one tons of sniper videos... he was just going through videos of all sorts of military killings until I walked away. I wasn't particularly sickened but I really don't care to watch this. Death and murder is just unappealing to me and I have no interest in watching.

I won't argue that these should be taken down but there should be some sort of warning to keep the kids from watching them. You didn't even need to log in like you do to see adult YouTube videos...

And here is what really pisses me off. An adult YouTube video is PG rated at worse. No human nudity? No sex? But gore and dead bodies is okay? Any kid can just log in and watch our military kill people but if they wanted to see a boob they are SOL.

What does this tell kids? What does this tell adults? It is okay to kill people but be ashamed of your body and sexuality because it is way worse than murder in other countries. And also death and destruction of all kinds I might add is easily found there.

If he can look at these at work I should be able to watch a little porn, I somehow think HR would feel differently about me showing people Porn...

I of course will not report this, or even say anything, It isn't his fault it is this BS sexually repressed society.

This needs to change.

Allow neither or both, I like ATS neither are allowed here I'm good with that. It is consistent and doesn't send a messed up message. I can talk about porn, I can talk about murder and we can discuss intellectually how either effects our world.

But we can't show either here.

It is a brilliant solution!

Personally violent images disturb me more, I think they affect everyone in a bad way, even if you don't feel like it is.

Deep subconsciously, just another layer of desensitization they have coated us with.

Don't get me wrong I love me some video games, but its kinda #ed up we get pleasure from simulated killing.

Agreed a double standard.
But death could be newsworthy if in the right context.
This extinction or hunting of human beings id not newsworthy unless if they are investigating said brainwashed individuals.
But it is youtubes webspace and the american public has a problem with nudty, but at least our right to see murder is still there!
BTW, good ear to recognize a 50 cal via video.

I disagree sir,
I love blowing up people and monsters and blowing up buildings in games.
The thing is, unlike the "studies"
might suggest i can tell the difference between a game and real life, i'm sure you can too.

(Edit)
I would like to point out and sort of retract some of what i said.

In games you are usually the good guy so anyone you may dispatch is the bad guy.
However years back i played some game where i was doing the storyline dark and it did affect my mood, trying to think darkly all the time.

Well i'm not that good I just assumed it was a .50 from the distance and damage plus I've heard a million .223, .7.62 and all the .30s and it sounded too drawn out and thuddy so I guessed.

I don't oppose the ability to show these videos, I oppose the double standard and I really do think they should at least be flagged as adults only.

I also really think there is any good reason to show gore in a news report. It is no more necessary than it would be to show one of Charlie Sheen's girl's movie when reporting who he was seen with.

Yes we can distinguish from reality and vidya games.

don't get me wrong I love me some ultra gore in video games, but I'm just saying, as a species, shouldn't that offend humans to see such things?

I mean it doesn't bother me at all, and I figured it should at least a little.

I would like to point out the video games with graphic violence (at least when I played a lot a few years back) were rated M and only sold to people over 17.

I'm also okay with this. I really don't think they make people violent... well normal people who understand the difference between fiction and reality.

When it is reality and there is no difference you can just go download it on you tube even if your parents blocked "bad" sites YouTube is supposed to be family friendly...

I was slightly disturbed at how it didn't bother me in the least to see people getting blown to bits on YT. I think at the very least I should have been bothered by it and at worse I should have gotten sick to my stomach. I was only bored and irritated at the principal and double standard.

The thing is you can rate them whatever, kids will still play them. I mean I hate to even have to show my id to buy a game at certain stores likes it booze.

Bring back the shaggin but with less violence. I say let the parent decide what kids view, it shouldn't blasted be everywhere to everyone with it then thrown in our faces daily, violence or sex once your 18 you already know what u like.

Didn't they have a slip up on some local channel once where cut into kids programmer of some crazed guy with HIV on an over pass and he like lights his truck on fire.

realizes his dog is in the truck and suffering so then he tries to help the dog i think he ended up killing it

then he took his hat off.

actually i think places all over cut to that
all i know it was during scheduled children programming

Actually you do have to be logged in to view adult videos but that is only if the person who uploaded it labeled it "Adult Content" which most do not.

I don't like youtube much anymore, I hate Vevo and the ads are annoying. It's like everything else, gone commercialized.

I do agree that videos like this should be viewable by adults only. I am 32 and I can't even watch those kinds of vids, I can't believe kids have access to it...but i guess their vevo and ads are more important.

Yeah you have to be logged in to see the adult videos; but my frustration is in what is considered an adult video and how graphic one subject can be vs another.

To my mind hardcore sex scenes are nowhere near as disturbing or hurtful to a society as kids being able to watch death and violence.

People can copy hardcore sex without hurting anyone else, a person who becomes desensitized to death and murder and even gains entertainment from is more likely to be dangerous to society as a whole...
