I train regularly (schedule permitting) with Chuck Taylor and the American Small Arms Academy staff in central CT. This year we even have a simunitions house!! Oh yeah!
Defensive and combat hand-gunning is a completely different animal than target and competition shooting or hunting, and if you haven't specifically trained for it, well, best of luck!

Hunting and urban tactics are completely different. But being proficient in both is very helpful. The more skills you know, the better you're off. Right?

Hunting would be great if you need to track someone in the woods. Tactics are different when you're defending your home from invader(s).

My advice for home defense is at least practice clearing your house -- alone with empty firearms. At least go thru your house once or twice. When you're familiar, make a game out of it. Have a friend or family member play hide and seek and practice with the mindset of finding an invader. Just make sure when you're practicing with someone do NOT use a firearm (empty or not).

You'd be amazed on how many hiding places criminals will find.
