It was on slashdot i think monday, and there is at least 1 thread about it here i saw, might have to search for FBI code or something.

Personally, I'm curious as to why they would release this to the public, wouldn't the FBI have advanced code breakers and cypher crackers at their disposal? Are they honest in the fact that they don't really think it will solve much?

Could this just be a sick joke by the killer, no code at all?

I glanced at it quickly and noticed what looks like a key at the top, and some segments are in brackets. Leading me to assume, if there is actually a coded message, most of the text is gibberish and only specific segments can be decoded.

bah answered my own questions be actually READING the Ops quote lol. Fascinating they've been working on this since 99 with no results at all? Have they even entertained the idea it's not a code at all, just something to confuse and distract?

Leaving a note, even like this, on a murder victim is awful risky, they can tell a lot about you from your writing, maybe even enough to build a profile.

that's the 1 i know of, not sure if it's the first or most active. Didn't come as the top search hit, I used "fbi" and "code" and it was a few results down on the first page, easy to miss.
