Nah! Guys! The problem was that the Earth does not have a cop.
On September 11 2001 the USA appointed itself World Cop!
Like it or not, the USA will not allow it's enemies to flourish and allow madmen like Pol Pot of Cambodia who created the Killing Fields or Slobodan
Milosevic to commit Genocide!
We allowed many to die in Rwanda and we didn't get involved because of what happened in Somalia.
If the USA sees an evil madman gassing and torturing people En Masse like Saddam was doing, the USA will have to intervene no matter how many US
Soldiers die.
If it save thousands of innocent people, then a few thousand soldiers must be sacrificed in order to save them!
I don't like it either, but we have no choice.
When people become desperate, they will break the rules, cause they have no choice!

You forgot to mention that they were actively seeking the ability to manufacture their own WMDs. That made them an imment threat to us and our
allies.
That is why the regime had to go.

Well, the people did rule over the goverment, this is not the case today. Yes we vote, but thats as far as the peoples say goes.
The goverment does what they think is right for us. But yet are they human? Dont they make mistakes? do they not bleed the same blood we do?
Thats why the founding fathersmade the check and balance system, because they knew the inherent evil in all.

Being new here - are we allowed to post links? There are many links that I could post to help educate you in this area. You obviously have not been
reading the news, or you have been reading the socialist propoganda that passes for news up in Canada. There is a HUGE scandal that has come to light
about France and Germanys illegal oil activities in Iraq. This would obviously taint any kind of security council vote they hold. And Koffi Annan's
family is heavily involved in illegal activities in regards to taking $$ from the Iraqi Oil for Food program.
Edited to add - Again, go ask the people of Rwanda what use the UN was to them while they were being slaughtered and the UN stood by and did
nothing.

People who are totally unaware of history shouldn't argue.
The United States of America FUNDED Pol Pot directly and indirectly WHILE he was killing millions!!! Do SOME, ANY research before you say
things.
If the USA sees an evil madman gassing and torturing people En Masse like Saddam was doing, the USA will have to intervene no matter how many
US Soldiers die.
This happened in 1984! 20 years later Saddam is invaded. Try again.
When people become desperate, they will break the rules, cause they have no choice!
Or with their extremely limited knowledge of the outside world, they'll make stuff up to feel better about themselves, as you have done.
FlyersFan: Many of these countries understand what it is to be liberated from dictators and evil governments. France and Germany would do well
to listen to them.
Really? Which countries in the coaliton were "liberated from dictators and evil governments". Do tell.

I figure people know this because it's common knowledge but I forget how misinformed some people are.
www.zmag.org...
The Times editorial of June 24 recognizes a small problem in pursuing Pol Pot, arising from the fact that after he was forced out of Cambodia
by Vietnam, "From 1979 to 1991, Washington indirectly backed the Khmer Rouge, then a component of the guerrilla coalition fighting the Vietnamese
installed Government [in Phnom Penh]." This does seem awkward: the United States and its allies giving economic, military, and political support to
Pol Pot, and voting for over a decade to have his government retain Cambodia’s UN seat, but now urging his trial for war crimes. The Times misstates
and understates the case: the United States gave direct as well as indirect aid to Pol Pot—in one estimate, $85 million in direct support—and it
"pressured UN agencies to supply the Khmer Rouge," which "rapidly improved" the health and capability of Pol Pot’s forces after 1979 (Ben Kiernan,
"Cambodia’s Missed Chance," Indochina Newsletter, Nov.-Dec. 1991). U.S. ally China was a very large arms supplier to Pol Pot, with no penalty from
the U.S. and in fact U.S. connivance—Carter’s National Security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski stated that in 1979 "I encouraged the Chinese to support
Pol Pot...Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him but China could."

Let me give you another side by someone that knew Pol Pot and as to why he changed, at first he was a quiet professor, later he became the devil
himself and wanted to destroy everything that was western in his country, including killing his own people.
"SYDNEY SCHANBERG: No one knows a great deal about what was going on inside his head, but he came from a relatively prosperous farming family in a
province 60 miles North of Phnom Penh. He had relatives in the royal court. They brought him to Phnom Penh. He was educated as an elite child. He went
to a Buddhist school. He went to a private school, and took up the violin. He got a government scholarship to go to Paris, which is where he formed
his ideas about Maoism and Marxism, Leninism, and where he met other Cambodians of a like mind, and where they formed their notions about this
resistance or revolution. "
Excerpted from.
www.pbs.org...
The US at that time was under Nixon, and btw at that time noone in the world cared much of what was happening over there, and noone moved to help
those people.
This man hated everything from western culture and he seemed to have changed from being a regular man to being a criminal. If he was recieving so
much help from the US why was it that he became enraged of everything western?
The US did not seem to be directly involved in what happened in that genocide, and if you want to talk about genocide remember what other countries
have done more recently and done to their own people.
You keep trying to blame and bash the US government. Did the US government came up with the idea of communism?

BTW, we supplied Iraq with weapons for the war with Iran. The Russians, the French and the CHinese kept giving him weapons right until 2002.
" As a former Romanian spy chief who used to take orders from the Soviet KGB, it is perfectly obvious to me that Russia is behind the evanescence
of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. After all, Russia helped Saddam get his hands on them in the first place. The Soviet Union and all
its bloc states always had a standard operating procedure for deep sixing weapons of mass destruction — in Romanian it was codenamed "Sarindar,
meaning "emergency exit." "
Excerpted from.

I have posted several other links of Russian and Chinese defectors who say that the ones who have been providing Saddam with wmd, intel (even spying
in the US) and money were these communist countries.
Keep for yourself your opinions about who is ill-informed and who is not. Unless you want me to have to embarras you once more by pointing out your
mistakes and misinformation...

Try telling the liberated victims of Saddam's 30 years of horror that the war is wrong. Tell the families of the millions murdered, raped,
maimed, and missing that the war was wrong.
This says it all.
Do those here opposed to GB only see their hatred of him and his party?
Do you not see any vision????
I think GB is more visually accute than most here on this myopic site.
A freedom loving, even semi- Democratic Iraq is a boon for us in America and Europe..........even if the world is coming to an end, good times can

I am sorry about people dieing on both sides but the US this time has asked for it.
Bush calls Saddam a war criminal, but has he recently asked himself what is the meaning of launching thousands of bombs onto Bahgdad and killing
civilians and destroying property?
I get the feeling this forum is very much pro war and just feel that I am not with you on this.
This does not mean I support terrorists. I support peace.
The world has been told the biggest lie of all that the US is there to liberate Iraq. What a lot of crap!
To me it looks like when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939. Or when Saddam invaded Kuwait in 1991.
With this I am not saying the Bush is like Hitler or Saddam, but he has radical views and takes radical actions.
THIS WAR IS WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
I agree with you. Yes this war is wrong for me and most Chinese, and for iraqi. 82 percent of Iraqis oppose U.S. occupation ,which excerpted from the

Not only did Saddam have nothing to do with 9-11, he was a secular dictator who supressed the Islamic extremists in his country. I am not saying
Saddam was in any way desirable, but he was the lesser of two evils. Now that he is out of the way, and America occupies Iraq, the moment the US
withdraws, Islamic extremists will fill the vacuum, as they already are in Afghanistan. Had we just cleaned out Afghanistan, and kept it under control
that would have been enough. But toppling Saddam and occupying Iraq was a stupid blunder. We can never leave.
Doesn't anybody remember, or was I the only one who was watching? Bush was hell bent and determined like a nonstop cyclops to make war on Iraq when
he was running for president. Anyone who used the meat north of the neck would have known a vote for him meant war. That was before 9-11. 9-11 had
nothing to do with it. W saw how his daddy's approval rating shot up after the Gulf War, and he needed a fix of that himself.
What you have is a man willing to shed blood and dangerously more destabilize an already bad situation in order to get re-elected. Worst president in
my lifetime!
