Realizing the doom to come
I shut my eyes
I Take a breathe
Never to awaken again

But, what if you DID wake up? Wake up, only to find out that all of this life is a dream?

Then I guess I would wake up. But the reality of this poem is that you realize what's to come so you take a breathe never to awaken again. Would you want to awaken after the doom has come?

Under your name you state that you are a 'fighter till the end'. This poem sounds like giving up....

Very observant! I was wondering if anyone would catch that! I wrote this poem after my cousin died from cancer. He was in such pain, closed his eyes and told doctors to pull the cord!

Well, that certainly puts things in perspective... So you'll just keep on fighting then

I will never stop fighting. But I don't blame my cousin for stopping the fight! He was in so much pain he couldn't eat and couldnt even drink liquid. Couldn't move, basically he was physically dependent on a machine.
Like it Says, I'm a fighter till the end!

I do not fear what is to come.
I do not fear what I do not know.
I do not forget where I have been.
Pull the plug, let me go.

Just at the turn of the year I lost my uncle to cancer as well.
Like your cousin he was in great pain, but I don't see it as giving up.
I see it as being strong enough to let go of what you know to face what you don't.
He was a strong person in life, I do not believe he was anything less in death.

Very nice poem! Hit home deep. Actually brought a tear. He (my cousin) gave up a Fight, not life. He gave up a Fight to face what he was afraid of most, death. He faced his biggest fear that day and did it with no regrets or feelings of remorse.

I just hope that if and when that time comes for me that I have the strength you do the same.

If you read my other short story called (the worst/best day of my life) you'll know that I'll have the strength no matter what! I wouldn't think twice.. I'd take a bullet for any of my loved ones especially my family. Even then I'll be fighting until the end to also face my fears on the day of my death.

You're a proper ray of sunshine, aint ya?

Let's have a go...

I call this "Bugger Off".

I've been dead for six months now,
But still you loiter and hang around,
Spilling your tears on MY piece of hallowed ground.

I'm a poet, and I didn't know it

This one has no name!

I wiped my eyes
I could finally see again
Wiping my eyes caused more pain than ever
as I witnessed the destruction of everything around me!
