THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Organizers of a race for homing pigeons were still scratching their heads in wonder Thursday after about 1,500 of the birds, famous for their ability to find their way home, went missing during the contest.

Poles starting to switch maybe?

You can't imagine what a great BBQ we had here yesterday ....

More seriously. Its kinda disturbing to see pigeons get lost, they can normaly fly all around the world with their eyes closed still finding your head to poo on.

Wonder whats going on.

I heard it had something to do with magnetic shifts or something

Wasn't there an article on ATS a while back stating that a big group of whales were in a place where they weren't supposed to be and stayed there for a while?

Whales are well known for their magnetic field navigation too.

If the birds are having problems, then the Earths magnetic field is acting up. Birds use it to navagate, to find thier way around.

Isn't there some way to check on the magnetic poles through scientific means? When birds and animals srart acting strange we know something is up. Does anyone have any scientific contacts?

These are the same story, one is news one is not. I think there can be one of both....

Could a MOD speak up, Can we have one of both? There has been some talk about this, can we have a ruling for the future? Thanks

A story on ATSNN and a thread on ATS is fine,
but 2 threads on ATS constitutes a duplicate.

As this is a duplicate topic,
