The OP is a curios one. It starts off sounding like he/she is in the know. Then suddenly, Nibiru, Planet X, comet etc rear their ugly head and discredit the entire post. Either FEMA is writing about Planet X or they are not, since it is clear they are not, tossing that in as a cause discredits the entire post.

Flooding, this is a no brainer, as the snow this year has to lead to flooding. This is neither a prediction, or insider knowledge, any moron who knows snow melts would see this coming - it happens often, in varying degrees. The OP poster's writing on this suggests hysteria, further discrediting the info.

Solar Flares, go back and look at 2000-2004, track the days and you'll see some very ferocious flares, they happen often, we'll live.

The quakes, again, the writing seems marginally credible, until the tossing in of the comet etc. Quakes happen, they happen now, they will happen, only fear based fools spend any time worrying about this. Fires happen, floods happen, nuke meltdowns happen, but we live.

Why is it when some event occurs, the supposed insiders crawl out from every rock saying it will get worse?! Why doesn't anyone crawl out from the same said rock and say: that's it, this one was the last one.

Dude, how long have you worked in "emergency management?" Every year there is flooding along the Mississippi and every year the government sends in teams, mostly boat crews from the Coast Guard. Again, this happens every year and the "code name" is Red River Flooding.

Ever since DHS came on line, money has been funneled to states for drills. Every concievable drill is run, using taxpayer money of course. DHS needs to ensure that we are prepared for any and every emergency and they also need to ensure that they maintain federal funding. How do they do this, by holding drills.

Who comes up with the drills? Emergency management folks (GS-13 and higher) working in the states. Why would they run an earthquake drill along the New Madrid Fault, obviously there's a fault line and a lot of people living around it. The government does not want another Katrina, they don't want to be caught with their pants down again, so they hold drills.

With DHS, they sent money to small town fire depts so they could buy WMD kits from...the government. They can also use the money to upgrade fire trucks or life saving equipment.

There was a drill a few years ago up near Watertown, NY concerning a terrorist plot to blow up tourist boats. It was pretty big. Does that mean the gov't is expecting a terrorist attack up there, not really, but they do need to run these types of drills so the local fire depts can maintain federal funding.

Honestly, there really is nothing too suspicious about this.

Kdog1982 howdy neighbor. I moved from the "Ville" two years ago.

Your priority list is exactly what we did in Okolona during the ice storm a few years ago in Feb, and the months before when Hurricane Issac was still a category 1 in Louisville, THEN became a tropical depression after passing Jefferson and Shelby counties. Hurricane in KY?!!! It was. Insurance paid out for our roof and property damage on that very information. We were without power for only a few days, but others in the city were out for A LOT longer. That was my first real taste of "was I prepared?" scenario. We watch each others houses during the ice storm, power lines being pulled down, one roof sparked. We had a triangulation of cell phones in the culdesac, and a gentleman 3 houses down on oxygen. Pooled our skills and equipment, worked our way out to main roads.

What I learned was being informed, being prepared, and staying collected.
Peace brother.

I moved here to get away from hurricanes. Then what happens,
a freaking tropical storm.
Then the icestorm hit!
At the time I had two houses, lucky that the one we lived at was close to a hospital, and it got power, like the next day.
The house I was remodling was 2 weeks without power.Dang toilets froze it was so cold!
You can run,but you can't hide.

I was semi-interested until I got to the "elenin," "nibiru," and "planet-x" part. How can you suggest that something we can't even confirm exists will cause all of this disaster? In my opinion, that takes all credibility out of everything.

That being said, I do think it was interesting that the USGS released an informative video on a theoretical "ark storm" that they claim could impact California. But, that's about all I can find interesting in this.

Touche' Feltrick on all points. Just another random poster, with just enough vague information to cause more folks to panic unnecessarily on ATS. Back in the day, conspiracy stuff used to be backed up by facts, hard evidence and with people's real names. Next global crisis thread please, this one is boring me to tears.

Okay dude, I call BS on your Mississippi flooding worse than 1993. First off, the snowfall that year caused heavy melting in late spring the contributed to the flood. This year, almost no snowfall during March, so there won't be a "big melt". I happened to be involved with the 93 flood operations and spent months hepling people in the region with everything from sandbagging to Helo insertion rescues.

To further respond to later posts, I see some have listed sources stating that experts predict flooding in areas in the Tri-state are along the Mississippi. I also am extremely familiar with these areas. The main problem is.....don't build your house on the river in a flood plain! Yes, some of the areas mentioned do flood regularly, but mostly because levees had been built up restricting the normal areas flood waters would go to. There has also been harming of the wetland marshes that Mother Nature intended to take the excess water.

Do all the 2.0's and 3.0's happening now in cali release pressure so a big quake won't happen? Someone argued that fact with me and it made sense. I wanted to know if there was an uptic in activity in cali and some people said no. Because I just started following EQ's I have no idea what the past history was. I see several EQ's a day happening in Cali. So.. I ask the question of you... is there an uptic? and .. do the little EQ's help release building pressure??

Great Great Thread... thank-you for all your hard work!!!

I think this is a good example that Scientists don't even begin to have all the answers. Everything that is has already been long before we got here. Luckily for us there have been documented events through history going back thousands of years towards some of them. It's impossible to tell whats going to happen next as we are all on a learning curve here but maybe the Mayans were right in the sense something IS going to happen 2012.........No telling, but everybody hang onto your hats cuz I have a feeling its gonna be one hell of a bumpy ride this year!

That the Mississippi will not experience massive floods or The New Madrid will not Shift?

I will certainly put my balls on the table and say nothing will happen that will necessitate moving to South America to surive. Is that clear enough? I guess with a username like "Screwed" that won't be dramatic enough for you. Sorry 'bout that, but not every day of the week is armageddon.

They picked the new madrid fault because there is a 6-10% chance, from the info I have recieved from USGS, that there could be a 7.0 or higher before 2030. The fact that the New Madrid Fault threat would cause the most damage and deaths and has (for natural disasters) the highest likelihood of happening even though its slim....

Also someone talked about the snow melt causing the 93 floods and how it snowed more back then, your partially right there....but what you don't know is what is scary/

It did snow more back in 93 then and melted all at once. This year it has been much cooler and not allowed for the snow from earlier snow storms to melt. On top of that it rained and snow saturates water very well holding up to 7 times the amount of original water used to create the snow.....All of this is looking to melt, trust me people this flood is going to be much worse than the many on here are thinking (if you think it floods like this every year your wrong) this will be a historic flood for US.

I also want to point out that the whole NIBIRU stuff I added was to get people thinking about what is causing these worldwide and nationwide disasters. When a lot of people I work with who study these disasters think something is going on, it probably is a good reason to look into it.....I am telling you ATS the government is becoming more aware of disasters.....Now you could say that that is a Katrina reaction that FEMA is doing (you know they don't want anything like that ever again) or they know something is up and are preparing......both are reasonable answers

Here we are day after day after day out worrying about the end of the world and losing sleep at night while.......ATS owners are making millions of dollars off our fears. I'm starting to think that this site is "mostly staged" with people planted to disinform and spread fear.
