Hi All,

I am wondering if we have any users on the board with experience in Sharepoint 2010 administration?

My question regards sharepoint security, as I am trying to work through a setup of a commvault sharepoint iDA.

First for those that haven't used commvault before the requirements for the SharePoint iDA are:
• member of the local Administrator Group
• member of the SharePoint Administrator Group
• System Administrator role on the SQL Server Instance

My actual problem is the security on sharepoint as the backup runs to 85% before it stalls on the document database.

The Commvault iDA to backup the SharePoint Document database needs to be set as either the Primary or Secondary Administrator to each site in the collection. Now my question is, is can I create an Active Directory security group and add my service account to it, then set the security group as either the primary or secondary administrator to all the sites in my collection. Someone I was talking to the this morning suggested that in Sharepoint 2010 I need a separate group for each site in my collection and I can't have the same the security group for all sites.

You can but it would impose a security risk.

Yes try doing them separately.

Think you need to go to an IT Forum for this, not ATS ....

Cheers Jonathon, regardless of security I thinking it was possible.
