It looks like the left wing media can't stand having to compete with a news organization as biased toward the right as they are toward the left. The liberal media group Media Matters has openly declared war on Fox News and it looks like they're not above fighting dirty.

Media Matters' war against Fox

The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

In an interview and a 2010 planning memo shared with POLITICO, Brock listed the fronts on which Media Matters — which he said is operating on a $10 million-plus annual budget — is working to chip away at Fox and its parent company, News Corp. They include its bread-and-butter distribution of embarrassing clips and attempts to rebut Fox points, as well as a series of under-the-radar tactics.

Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox’s top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to press advertisers to avoid Glenn Beck’s show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes. And it has hired two experienced reporters, Joe Strupp and Alexander Zaitchik, to dig into Fox’s operation to help assemble a book on the network, due out in 2012 from Vintage/Anchor. (In the interest of full disclosure, Media Matters last month also issued a report criticizing “Fox and Friends” co-host Steve Doocy’s criticism of this reporter’s blog.)

Brock said Media Matters also plans to run a broad campaign against Fox’s parent company, News Corp., an effort which most likely will involve opening a United Kingdom arm in London to attack the company’s interests there. The group hired an executive from MoveOn.org to work on developing campaigns among News Corp. shareholders and also is looking for ways to turn regulators in the U.S., U.K., and elsewhere against the network.

Damn, I bet he wouldn't go after the guy cheating with his wife as hard as he's going after Fox News.

Nothing wrong with a little dirty closet cleansing.

If Fox is showing biased news clips and slanting it, then why not expose it. Hannity was caught last year using clips of some rally that was in fact from an earlier event that had nothing to do with the topic he was talking about.

The Left news is crap no doubt, but if the Right is crap, just with our flavor on it, it is still news that is misleading.

Maybe if both go at each other we might get a better chance at hearing the truth.

Let the mud slinging begin.

Every news organization whether it be televised, print, or web, has the right to post whatever they so choose to, it is up to the individual to make the educated choice on whether the news being reported is factual or not. FOX News has grown to the size it has because it is not a left-leaning news organization as nearly all of the others are deemed to be. So what if conservatives have a news outlet? So what if liberals have a news outlet? Why must Media Matters, an outright left-wing organization, attack FOX for doing exactly what they do? Promote partisan news.

Normally I would say not to worry as media matters is a nearly irrelevant organization to begin with but it is funded by George Soros, wherever those corrupt hands are you know something bad awaits, I cannot help but feel we will hear a lot more from media matters in the near future. Soros is probably just a little angry that Glenn Beck goes on air all of the time showing his outright disgusting ways, like Beck or not he provides the facts about George Soros 9 times out of 10.

Media Matters does not matter to the majority of the thinking populace because we recognize it is an organization run, funded, and directed by Fabian Socialists.

If somebody wanted to stick it to Fox News, all they would need to do is put out a news source that was REALLY unbiased; no left/ right spin, just the facts and let the audience decide how to interpret the facts.

Do away with "color commentary" too. The only editorial section should be from the readers, like in the newspapers or the comments section under an article online. Let real people argue out the sides of a story instead of being led by the nose by some "professional" commentator.

If a real honest to goodness unbiased news source were to come on the scene, it could show up both the left wing MSM and Faux News. If people could learn to give up their incessant need for drama in the news and get back to wanting the facts so they could think for themselves and draw their own conclusions, maybe we could move forward and find some real solutions for the world's problems.

Then again, thinking for themselves is too much to ask for most people. They might blow a gasket.

I guess free speech is only free IF you agree with Media Matters. Though, I can see why MM is concerned.

On one side you have FOX.

And on the other, you only have ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS.

Fair and balanced, ain't it?

I just wanted to add an observation.
The left obviously thinks we are stupid. They don't think that we can turn off, change channels, or look to other oulets.
They want to control what we watch, what we think, what we see.

If FOX is so wrong, then why does it "speak" to so many? Their ratings trounce the other networks, yet instead of providing actual news to combat FOX, they turn to attacks.

FOX, like any other business, is filling a niche. It is providing a service that others do not, can not, provide.

If the left honestly thought we (the unwashed masses) were smart and capable of making up our own minds then they'd stop this.

Because this isn't an attack on FOX, it's an attack on every free thinking person who owns a tv.

Fair and balanced? maybe not....
but the issue is the amount of truth and fact that comes out at the end...
me, i dont watch the news or much TV at all and as far as left or right goes, well lets just say im glad im in Australia

I mean we even have a program on our ABC (which isnt like yours, its not affilated with any mainstream media) called media watch which picks apart mistakes made by media outlets even there own.
The problem i see is the amount of dis-information peddled to the kiddy's out there.

There's always Jon Stewart...but he's a liberal, so the right won't watch him.

It's not really researching when all your news comes from Fox, WND, CSM and newsmax. Just as it's not very even if all someone reads is Lawrence O'Donnell, thinkprogress and HuffPo.

Facts tend to have a liberal bias.

I've long come to the understanding that most people who bother to turn on Fox or any of its affiliates (Fox Business) are generally there because they want to agree with what their pundits say. People, generally, hate opposition and feel comfort in agreement. Even if it's wrong.

Is that how you interpreted what I said? Seeing as I'm a leftist you can't simply take my word for anything, I've got to have some shady motive behind my words. There are plenty of liberals that can't think for themselves...but those on the right seem more prevalent to me.

Evolution, Global Warming, the Big Bang, theories that are capable of standing up to the scientific method. The greatest thing about all that is the capability of building further on itself, if new evidence is presented it can radically change the theory. The is no absolute correct answer, only mostly correct answers.

Fox news is as big of a scam as CNN or MSNBC but if they wan't to declare war.... Good Luck, Fox is plugged in to so many outlets throughout America from hit TV shows to that stupid fing robot during football games, Americans are more likely to start a revolt over that than tyranny. CNN.... lol
