The rebels also promised the uprising would not further hamper oil production in the areas under their control.

The oil fields in rebel-held territory are producing between 100,000 and 130,000 barrels a day, and the opposition plans to begin exporting oil "in less than a week", a rebel representative said.

"We are producing about 100,000 to 130,000 barrels a day, we can easily up that to about 300,000 a day," Ali Tarhoni, the rebel representative responsible for economy, finance and oil, told a news conference.

Right i am sure its for the economy more like american oil exports to america.

So again whose going to say the rebels, aren't going to export to america and eupore? the war has been about Oil is anyone here surprised by the rebel move about the oil exports? i know i am not.

Muammar Gaddafi stopped the oil exports to some European countries which that may have a set off a fire storm agaisnt gaddafi, when you stop the oil exports to america, your going to get either bombed or have a manufactured uprising agaisnt you.

What's suprising about exporting oil to where it has always been going, to Europe? America doesn't get oil from Libya.
So how does this "ahaaa see war is for oil" garbage tie in with the fact that there is nothing to see here that was any different than before the war? When Kaddafi's oil went off the market it was bought from other sources, his supply is rather insignificant to global consumption.
Now that the rebels will get the oil revenues, they can invest in real armaments instead of fighting tanks with AK 47's and shoulder slung rockets. Just another push towards the cliff Kaddafi's regime is about to fall from. Also the story shows the rebels are organizing an infrastructure by even having an oil minister. With a functioning government in place soon, they will be able to borrow massive amounts of funding to really take on Kaddafi. Then there is also the seized billions of Kaddafi assets the UN can give them access to. Kaddafi will be gone and the new rebel country will be in debt to the West. Smells like victory is brewing to me.

the arms dealers must be rubbing there hands at the though of the rebels having real money to play with now.

its just disgusting really..

Why? Because it is ok for Kaddafi to line the arms dealers pockets but now it is a talking point of derission if the rebels buy arms? Sounds like some people only want to see a one sided war of slaughter.
