I am glad they do show the holiday classic cartoons here at Christmas time. Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman (one of my favorites), Charlie Brown Christmas, (also the Charlie Brown Halloween Great Pumpkin). I still love hearing Jimmy Durante singing Frosty and Burl Ives, Silver and Gold.

Well, not cartoons but American Bandstand on Saturday mornings, and The Monkees and The Partridge Family. Oh my gosh, my friends and I use to scream and sing and dance while watching.

Now those were the good old days!

Fun-toony thread! You can almost relive the years just by thinking about toons. The ones you watched, the ones your children watched. I can't figure out how the toons these days can keep a child's interest.

Who can forget great--almost Shakesperean--storylines like this:

And you may think I'm old, but I was Manga before Manga was cool:

And with all that said: I'm Outta Here Like A Mouse: No, not Minnie's boy, but that fast little fella...

Om my gosh! HR Puff n Stuff. Jack Wilde was awesome. Sadly, I think he passed away a few years ago, but he was definitely a crush especially with his accent

I've been trying to collect old cartoon series, thanks for the reminder to add them on to my wishlist. I've got some including many Robotechs, Thundercats, and Looney Toons, Animaniacs, etc., and keep working on many more. I've tried to watch some of the cartoons of today, while babysitting others' kids, but they just don't seem to do anything for me (and the lack of "art" in them is just sad...)

I still think the 80's were the golden age for toons though...so many real classics there...that STILL hold up well today. One day, while sick, not too long ago, I did a little Thundercats marathon (after getting the discs)...and I was still pretty entertained by it.

I apologize for the way I worded that, as it was a bit insensitive to others tastes. However, it's not the content that I dislike, rather it's the artistic style.

I, too, have found that I can't watch most anime because of the way its drawn. There are have been quite a few whose storyline I thought I would enjoy but after about 7 mins of watching I usually find their drawing style distracting and turn it off. Nice to know I'm not alone in this.

hey sugar cookie

nice thread

and I agree with ya,
no cartoons these days compared
to Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Foghorn Leghorn, etc ....
they just don't make them like they use to.

I thought Mel Blanc was one of the most gifted
artist around. His voice could do so many things.
He was the voice behind all those old characters.
He is dead now, but his son Mel Jr. did some
of the remakes years later. So the gift keeps on
giving.

I also have a Bugs Bunny collection in my DVD's
and I pull them out occasionally just for a good
laugh. It seems the newer cartoons these days
focuses more on the violence than the humor
as it once was. So IMO, it was not an improvement
at all.
