I'm not sure it's in the right forum... but anyway.

California Nuclear Plants at Risk, Lawmakers and Watchdogs Say

Several lawmakers in California this week have expressed their concerns regarding the safety of state nuclear power plants as well as their earthquake risk.

The Diablo Canyon power plant and the San Onofre plant are both located near the coast, which lies near the Pacific Ring of Fire, a siesmically active region that could suddenly experience a massive earthquake.

The Union of Concerned Scientists, a watchdog group, released a report on U.S. nuclear power plant safety last Thursday, noting that “when operators tried to open the valves to allow pumps to provide flow inside the containment building, they would not open.”

What else doesn't work? Insane. And those people are allowed to run those dangerous facilities.

They have YOUR LIVES in THEIR HANDS... and they act like they don't give a flying turtle.

Just fear mongering.....TPTB have to find anything to use to sway the people. You watch, next they'll say that nuclear energy isn't clean nor safe, kinda like Germany has done.

Just lame.....

It's safe. If done correctly, which it seems in California they are not doing it correctly.

That was my point. Anyone who has read up on Nuclear energy ( not saying I'm all mighty and wise on the subject ) would know that Nuke energy is very clean, and safe. Just as you said, it has to be done correctly. Sidenote, Japan admittedly stated that one of the reactors had been ignored for many years. So it further proves a point, dont do it right...KA BLEWEEEE!!
