You do know that most likely the only reason we turned over operations to nato is that China and their big ol warship is sitting off the shores of Libya, China does not want us there and we dont want a problem with China and Russia, Do'hBamma needs to explain this to us.

NATO is one of the teams in the league.

Id like to know how many and what kind of ships china sent. We don't need to pi$$ in Chinas cornflakes, at the same time, China doesn't need to pi$$ in ours. How come other countries can intervene with Chinas ok, but not the US? Again I am just asking questions.

The US doesn't want to be seen as taking the fight into another Muslim Country. They wouldn't even get the approval from its own citizens never mind the international community. They will still be pulling some heavy strings in that fight.

What made me question France as the main instigator for the action? Well, the Uk couldn't be seen to be the main culprit could it? We were seen as the poodle of the US in the last war.

I'm all for protecting people being killed by an oppressive regime. However, the politics and reasons go deeper than the lives of the civilians being killed their by that sicko Gaddafi.

Look at the other revolts that are happening elsewhere.

If the US was getting out of this TOTALLY, I'd be pleased....

Well according to the military the US is flying 450 sorties a day. The rest of NATO forces are only flying 300 put together. Did China really scare somebody?

I'd say yeah they did scare somebody, first off, we really do not know what China's military has because they are very secretive about it, second that warship they have can sink a carrier with one missle, and with Russia not wanting us there either, both those countries are something we dont want to deal with. When China sends a warship with the capability to sink a carrier into waters they have NEVER been too, and then sit silently off the shores of a country that is being "attacked" in their eyes, Id say yeah Id be scared.

Obama's Gaddhafi is Bill Clinton's Milosivec. 16 years later and we are still IN BOSNIA. Of course it (Bosnia) is a NATO led operation, so the U.S. gets to wash its hands of any of the blame, but we still have troops fighting and dying there.

What a load of rubbish OP they are just hiding behind Nato as a veil, the US is a member of Nato are the not ? and are they not the most influencial ? This is nothing but a PR stunt so they don't look like the bad guys, well to late for that ! If the world ran like we are all taught ,these other countries wouldn't move a muscle without the US backing them up anyway ?

This whole "handoff" reminds me of when somebody gets rid of their lover 'cause the wife/husband

Nope, not under European command . . . still actually very much under an American's command ultimately, as it rightly should be, yet under the hat of NATO.

NATO, which is, like the UN, just another tool of the US. You know that the US is a member of NATO, and thus as a member we must partake in the action .. the whole thing started off as a French fight, somehow we took control (our ego couldn't let us watch the French lead the charge.....) and now we hand it back to NATO, and it will be the exact same people as before.. because the UK, France, US and Canada are all NATO nations.

I'm all for helping Libyans, I think we should have gone in sooner and made our job a hell of a lot easier when the rebels were at the front door of Gadaffis house.. but I know common sense is rare among Politicians.. as long as no boot touches Libyan sand anyways.. Somehow, NATO or not, I still see this getting screwed up royally.
