In the US liability is a big issue with hunting farmland. Most states have set up a common-sense sort of approach where written permission is needed by the land owner and that is supposed to absolve the land owner of any liability if the hunter should have an accident or god forbid fire into a rustling bush without knowing his target and beyond.

I wonder if liability is the issue over there? Seems farmers wouldnt be anti-gun generally.

You'll have to find out where they drink and make personal friendships with a couple.

Or move to the US.

You can join the BASC here in the UK for about £60 per year which gives you public liability insurance etc.

But it's no good if you can't actually use any land and unless you own a large amount yourself, you're stuffed!

I had the same problem with metal detecting here because you can't go on ANY public land whatsoever unless you have the famous permission, which again, I couldn't get. It's a joke here!

So the last bit in your post about moving to the US has appealed more and more this last 12 months and the ball is nearly rolling. I want to be in the area of Carolina or Nevada / Oregon way, it looks lovely there!

It is. And those places are largely open and free though certain spots in Oregon are bizarrely totalitarian for some unknown reason. Probably a collision of insanity from the Californians and the Seattle crowd.

The Carolinas and Nevada though are wide-open for outdoor pursuits. Land is cheap too. If I didnt hate the heat I'd be there myself.

Sounds great, which part are you in?

We have to pay about £160,000 (cheapest scruffy part) for a one bedroom apartment here, 3 rooms in total. The US looks way better than the UK!

Im in New Hampshire. Northeast.

I lived in Oregon for a little while and outside New York City for a few years.

I've traveled all over the country.

A general rule of thumb is the lower the population density the freer you'll be. The higher the population density the more like the UK you'll be.

Density map

I've decided to only live in yellow or lighter spots. Red is brutal. You're shoulder to shoulder with people who want to run your life and usually those areas are bankrupt and have the highest tax burdens too.

Worldwide it looks like you're in for some massive shock to move to an area where even the highest density isnt as you're used to. World Pop Density Map

Now I know why so many Europeans believe there is a population problem to the point that births need to be regulated and limited. Seems pretty crowded over there.

Wow, you're right, it does look very overcrowded here in the UK!

We have hundreds of thousands of people coming here ilegally every year and taking the few jobs we have left, leaving the UK people without!

What used to take me 30 minutes to drive to my sisters house now takes 1 hour 15 mins due to the massive amount of people / cars on the roads. When you drive past houses in residential areas, they are parked all along the road too now so it's just got really silly.

Once I have paid off a few debts, I'm leaving the UK, we even get fined for putting too much rubbish in our bins or leaving the bin out for collection on the wrong day, it's simply got crazy here.

So thank you my friend for your great advice and to everybody else, please accept my apologies for going off topic.

Why?

Many, many children here in the States, myself included, learned to use firearms safely almost before I could read about them. Not quite, but close...

I'm curious to know why you feel this way.
