Christened on March 4, 2001, the USS Ronald Reagan will be the most modern and sophisticated aircraft carrier in the world. Reagan is 1,092 feet long,
and will be home to 6,000 sailors, carry more than 80 aircraft and cruise at speeds in excess of 30 knots.

Naming one of the most powerful ships in the Navy after Ronald Reagan is a fitting tribute to one of our greatest leaders.

This looks like a great carrrier. I am just wondering where the Navy is getting the F-14s to stalk the ship.

The JSF is not ready yet. Also I saw photos of the CVN 76 with F-14s on it. I know they are starting to replace the F-14 with the F/A-18 E and F. I
think all the F-14s are going to be replaced by 2008.

Just found this very enlightening article on the CVN Class aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan and it mentions future aircraft carrier builds and
the new technologies being incorporated into them.
(Please note: there are TWO pages to this article..be sure to read second page.)

THat ship is awesome. Wait till Korea sees this on the horizon.

JSF project.......mainly the Lockheed Martin x-35 is in one of the testing phases still. And They will be replacing the f-14's. The f-14 tomcats were
primarily made as a counter defense to longe range russian bombers such as the bear (tu-195 i think)
