They know Libya will probably be invaded by NATO if the U.S don't lead. That would enrage the AL and they will retract their backing. Opening up all sorts of problems if Russia or China become involved.

China are currently the second largest economy, soon to be first. They undoubtedly have investments in Libya and will do all they can to protect this.
