Hey. Alreadygone..You are right about N.C. being beautiful. It has the beaches, mountains, and alot in between. It also has the biggest variety of trees in the whole world. And the Venus Flytrap!! And the weather is mostly good.
I have a funny story about the mountain people...When my daughter moved up there. My parents and I went to see her. Her directions weren't exact. We got lost and needed to get some gas. We met an old gentleman on the road and ask for directions to the nearest store. He said.."It is just down yonder a little ways, just keep going straight, can't miss it." We thanked him and down the road we went.....10 miles down yonder before we found it! His interpretation of just a little ways was a lot different than ours. We really had a good laugh over that one and still do.
We need to come to your house, sounds like some good eating!!!

Added to... I can't believe you just said what a friend of mine from Ohio said about the girls here. That is just harsh..LOL

I guess distance is a relevant thing... it's a 12 mile round trip to the nearest gas station/ country store. Not far really when compared to going to "town."

True story... in our community there are 2 stores about half a mile apart. We are also just across the road from Virginia as we live by the line. Sometimes the gas stations here run out of gas waiting for the truck delivery... which means I have to go to Va to buy gas to get to work in NC. Always blows my boss's mind as he lives in a metropolitan suburb....

Back to the OP...we do have weird stuff here. I have actually seen a few UFOs...one near the ground and at only about 100 yrds. Then, over in Warren County around Inez, there are some massive power lines and intense electrical array...to no where...heard there may be an underground base around there...have actually met a few deer hunters that say US military personel halted their running dogs and deer hunt and escorted them to the main road... at gun point.

Also, with Seymore Johnson AFB and Ft Bragg and Camp LeJeune and Cherry Point...anytime stuff happens, the whole of eastern NC gets on the move.

Then there are the usual suspects...Devil's Tramping Ground, Bround Mtn Lights, and the Mako Light...all kinds of ghosts...pirate lore and Blackbeard....

And the Hurricanes...worst I ever saw was Fran '96 and Floyd '99...of course there was Hazel...Hugo.... Issabelle... and a new season is soon to begin.

I know what you mean about the hurricanes, when they do come inland. Fran nearly tore our house down and a tree fell on my mom's car and totaled it. Damage everywhere around. The flood damage from Floyd was just devastating. I am not looking forward to this season, we are about due again for one to come inland.
On a different note, A friend of mine, and a bunch of other people saw a ufo tumble to the ground near the Moore county...Lee county line. She and another friend saw a little man or whatever it was. laying just inside the door. No sooner had they gotten close to the object ..bam .. the military was on the scene and searched all of them. and grabbed up the object with heavy equipment and never thought twice about who or what was inside. She said, She said there was at least 20 soldiers there prowling the woods looking and the brasses too. The MP told her it was standard precedure. She told this to me and and bunch of other people who worked with her. Only about 5 of us believed her.
A member of my family had a run in also with the military on an object that landed in her yard. She just agreed with whatever they said because I had told her what happened to my friend. Yeap..when you get to thinking about it, there is more going on than you think.
