Too late. If they had of wanted to intervene, they should have blocked the vote at the UN with thier veto power. Instead, they abstained.

I do hope that everyone on this thread is up to spead on military power in today's world.
With that said, everyone should then know that Russia and China's military dwarf in comparison to the United States. Greatest two examples I can point out are spending and technology. China does not supplement their military with funds in order to surpass the US. And russia has niether the funds or technology due to still recovering from the Cold War.

These to monkeys make me want to puke.

Why did they not step up to the plate. Especially China.

Just shut up both of you . Don't you have some ethnic cleansing going on in your own country.

Russia with the serbs, chechens, and the countless others.

China they kill little girls to prevent the babies from reproducing.

Both of you just shut up.

If we didn't step up like what happened in Iraq when sadam went in and wiped out all the opposition. We stepped up because we did not want tot sit there and let it happen..

Maybe you should step back and next time the is something like this going on get off your duff. You will never be a world power like the us you would rather sit there and let them all kill them selves.

Maybe we should have to.

Maybe not.

Exactly, Russia and China have their own agenda, they certainly have never been paragons of virtue.

They probably have their own agenda, I have yet to see a government that takes any such action without significant economical gain or an own agenda in mind.

Riiight, and look at what stepping in to Iraq caused, even more suffering for the Iraqi people, destruction, torture, rape by the very liberators themselves. Also U.S soldiers suffered a lot (hell, many even escaped to Canada because they couldn't stand what they were doing there).

So, the mob known as the "allied forces" should equally STFU and stay at home, instead of shoving their noses into other countries' affairs, under the false flag of liberation and corrupt western democracy.

People are always complaining, "why is everything always about America". Well, it's because currently America is ignoring the problems at home and instead, acting as world police and fighting 3 wars.

Russia's helped America in many wars. Even our Civil War...Russia supported the North....France/England supported the Confederacy.

China's helped America as well. ""Paragons of Virtue""? We haven't been much of a paragon of virtue the last few decades.

I don't understand many posts here on these political issues. Do you all believe that governments act independently from each other? It seems many here read and believe everything the New York Times finds "fit to print". What globalists want to do they are going to do but Russia, China, and the U.S. are not enemies. We BUILT Russia even their industrial technology all came from us. Nixon and Kissinger made China what it is today opening up diplomatic relations and getting them into the WTO. Thats what sites like ATS are for so we can get at the truth outside mainstream "news" (propaganda).........As for fearing China's military...haha....they are light years away from being a threat against the U.S. military. China can't even reach beyond the West Coast with their nukes. Them attacking us would be like them putting a sword to their chest and falling on it......

Congress did not push anything.

The last time the U.S. formally declared war was WW2 in 1941 ......Nothing new here

And as over extended as they are with the defense sec coming out last years saying we should not open another front CIA plant obama jumps righ on in. I really believe he has cia/nsa ties going back to the circumstances of his father and what was going on back then with Kenya.

Here we are endangering national security by over extending ourselves and printing up money at an alarming rate with the us going broke.

Hello Democrates this is your guy. You better stand up and voice you opinion now while you still have one. Do you remember what happen last election. You lost. And if you keep going you will be voted out next time as well.

Stand up for the people you are supposed to represent. before it is too late.

Its never too late for a bully beat-down ...
Only reason China and Russia went with the UN vote was becuase they were assured Libyan civilians would be protected above all ...
Obviously the West always has a hidden agenda .. and as always ... first thing they do with all their 'technology is to start killing civilians ... time and time again .. this is what they always do!

Funny thing is .. the 'opressed people' NEVER asked for Western help to 'liberate' them ... the West just has a policy of fabricating lies in their MSM making it look like they are being called bly y the Libyan people for help ..

If the US has such a BIG HARD-ON for helping opressed people .. why are they ONLY going to places with OIL ..?? Guess the opressed in other countries aren't worth s&^* huh ..?
So blatantly selective ... and yet nobody cares ..

And France .. Italy .. and company ... puppets as always ....

Moderate Skeptic: My own personal library is filled with so many books on how the world operates that we do not need a "new" source. It's just the way the world works...

The only thing I know about Libya and Kaddafi, is what the MSM tells me about them, and basically tells me what to believe about them. I find it uncanny that these people of such oppressed nations, manage to find automatic weapons, rocket launchers, ammunition, and signs written in English. Heck, I can't even find these things in the Land of the Free...

I would just like to know, if people of the United States were to have a violent uprising, whereupon the U.S. military began to fire on rebel groups, which of these nations will come to the aid of the American rebels?

We have done these things to American Citizens in the past and those people weren't even armed in some cases; on a smaller scale yes, but in my opinion, that makes us no different than these countries we supposedly "liberate." If there was a large scale violent rebellion from the American people, this U.S. government would look no different than the supposed ruthless dictators we have seen rise up lately.

Sir, what the heck are you talking about? They didn't step up b/c they are allies or dependent on each other in some ways. That would be the same as saying "why didn't the US step up against the UK", well because we really can't afford to break down a relationship on such a major scale.

Furthermore, bringing up the issues Russia and China have are moot at this point. Doesn't EVERY country have issues you could point out? Like, for instance, I dunno, the United States collapsing economy? Why are WE sticking our noses in there if we have our own issues to deal with?

Also, what we did in Iraq was basically ruin their country. What we did over there is NOTHING to be proud of. Going in under false pretenses to oust a leader b/c of a personal vendetta is nothing short of psychotic.

Oh and one last thing...I'm pretty sure the entire world considers Russia and China to be superpowers.

Personally speaking, and imo all politics are local. There is no way that China and Russia did not know what the resolution conained. I think this is a back channel agreement between the US and other nations who wanted a UN Resolution that allowed airstrikes with Russia and China.

In order to get those 2 countries, in addition to the other 3 who so far are quiet, to abstain from the vote, I think this was the agreement. Abstain and a few days after the air strikes commence, China and Russia get to complain about it, calling for a cease fire / end of airstrikes.

It lets both countries save face, on both fronts, by allowing the UN Resolution while at the same time being able to criticise the coalition forces.

It almost looks like a little bit of geopolitical Good cop Bad cop. In this case the UN forces will be the bad cop, and Russia and China will come forward playing the good cop and backing one of their "allies". I see the hostilities with UN forces quickly dieing down, and I see Russia and China playing a key role in getting Ghadaffi to step down and leave.

As people on this site are so fond of pointing out about allies of convience / resources, this is no different. China and Russia are allies of Libya for the same reason we are allies of Bahrain, convience and foriegn policy.

The one major difference between the era of the Cold War and now are how the relationships between countries play out. Gone is the day of being allied in what was perceived as a good guy vs bad guy mentality. Now we have have African, South American, Eastern European as well as Central and South East Asian countries doing business with all sides based on their own countries needs.

Example: As much as Chavez hates the US Government, as as much as the US Government is annoyed with him, and putting aside all of the back and forth between the 2, the US still remains a large purchaser of their oil, and Venezuela still sells it to us.

Regardless of the countries makeup (democracy, communist, socialist, theocracy etc, the focus is now on the individual countries and the best deal for their people (I dont fault them for that... I wish my Government, the US, would do the same).

What we are seeing, again imo, is the end of what we perceive as democracy and capitalism and open markets, into a world of the same terms, but applied in a different method than before.

I origionally dimissed the analysis that pressure was building in some countries, but the more I see, the more I can see the analysis playing out. I thin the days of one or a few countries controlling the board is overwith. Even with the Rise of China and Russia, I cant see it being like it was during the coldwar. I think instead of a few countries playing world cop, the department so to speak will be expanding.

I think for the better...
