Thank you it does help a little it is just that I get on here reviewing what informed posters are finding then I look at say radnet which reads say 20 or like yesterday a 9 then, someone like unity says wHOA!LOOK at the 225 in az. and I go what the hell?? Then I read where muzzleflash is statng that these readings are accurate and we are being lied to as well as posters are relaying incorrect info we are being showered and BREATHING RADIATION; ----- I then ask unity several posts who never answered once, then I ask phage and was answered with good info along with 2 other posters whom tried to help--- however, I am just really not sure where we are at all here and what to do at this time.

Well if that's the case people in Raleigh should have been dropping like flies on February 26, 2009. The beta count reached 1,221,559 then. Good thing it's cooled down since then.

It is an instrumentation issue in Raleigh.

Laughing at that one but we too are worried here, Governments tend to hide the nasty stuff until it must be disclosed but if they can avoid it they will.

I posted this link in another thread but I think this may be useful here as well, It's a real time radiation counter for the US. It updates rads every few seconds. Enjoy www.radiationnetwork.com...

That is not rads. It is CPM.
If it were rads no one would be left standing by now.

I tried the epa site I am not seemingly able to get to the info some are posting here also regarding tap water and food but, you are saying we are experiencing normal levels of radiation right now in u.s. across the south west/ thanks again I am trying to understand amidst all the conflicting info!

Unless you have some understanding of what radiation is and how it is measured it's hard to give a detailed explanation.

The CPM (counts per minute) figure shows the number of times the Geiger counter is "triggered". This gives an idea of the level of radioactivity. But translating this number to human terms (the "dose" of radioactivity) depends on the particular kind of radiation being detected (there can be several) and the sensitivity of the instrument being used to detect it.

Given the same amount of radioactivity, an instrument with higher sensitivity will register a higher CPM than one with lower sensitivity. That's why the CPM values are not really very useful.

The values from the EPA monitors can not be compared to the "civilian" monitors.

Without knowing the details of the (sensitivity) of the instruments you can't.

Try going to the map view
cdxnode64.epa.gov...

Then clicking on Query View on the left panel. It can take a while, the site is busy.
