Jut to give you an heads up

OSAKA—Traces of radioactive iodine have been detected in tap water in Tokyo in the wake of an emergency at a quake-hit Japanese nuclear power plant, the government said Saturday. Abnormal levels of radioactive iodine were also found in the water supply in the central prefectures of Gunma, Tochigi, Saitama, Chiba and Niigata, said an official at Japan's science ministry, which is monitoring radiation levels.

For now the radiation levels pose no threat to humans, but i got to wonder is this just the beginning, god i hope not.

I love how they keep saying the levels are safe for humans, but at what dose and for how long?

If it's in the water supply at this point, it's going to be there a while, and by drinking and cooking with it (and heck even washing clothes and self with it!) it's going to give you a constant dosing of it with no respite.

Not to mention actually INGESTING the radiated water will do a lot more than simple skin exposure...

Well if its getting into the water supply at this point, this is just the beginning as levels will surely rise as more and more fallout seeps into the water tables and sewers.

The level of radioactive iodine in the water supply may not for 50 years return to the level they were pre-tsunami because of this disaster.

This sucks for the Japanese, it makes me wonder what would happen if this happened to America.

I'm sure our government would be more than happy to have our water supply radiated, at least the Japanese are admitting that there is something wrong.

Man, that sounds really, really dangerous. Even if the levels aren't that high, ingesting it makes it a completely different animal I would think.

There are waterways in the USA that is radioactive.....so don't let it shock you.

Yeah but the article says that it's the radioiodine that's in the water.
The stuff that bonds to your thyroid gland then manifests complications years later. Not mere radioactive dust particles that you can just wash off your skin.

It did happen in the US last summer with the BP oil spill…………It may not be radiation, but the end result 5 to 10 years from now will be the same……..CANCER..

This will be exactly how the government will respond……….Pump the media with very questionable governmental test results and move on………..

Radiation is a lot easier to confirm by the general public than hydrocarbons or other toxins in the air / water / food supply due to the laboratory expense for testing……….much less a synthetic microbe changing the DNA structure out in the Gulf………

Yes, you are correct. Pennsylvania rivers are one I recently became aware of due to them allowing waste water from gas fracking sites to be disposed of in the rivers and used on roadways for deicing and dust control. Convenient population control, perhaps?

I also heard this morning on the news that there are now finding elevated radiation in milk and spinach. There are a few links reporting this

Elevated radiation in milk, spinach

Japan cites radiation in milk, spinach

What I found interesting was this...

The food was taken from farms as far as 65 miles (100 kilometers) from the stricken plants, suggesting a wide area of nuclear contamination.

The "mandatory" evacuation area as far as I know (which may be wrong) is 20 km, at 30 km they urge people to stay inside and the US is urging an 80 km evacuation and/or stay inside...but radiation levels are found up to 100 km away.

You'd never be told about it.

It's a Federal Felony for a Public Water worker to inform the public the water's not safe to drink.

Japan just needs to copy what we do.

What a jackass comment.

It's ironic, you don't seem to care about humans because of the way they act, yet you act in a manner that you would probably blame others for, to perpetuate you inhumane opinions.

Yeah humans suck, YOU are proof of this.

This is from a post I made on the "Japan finally admits- Plant operator in tears" thread. I can't post a new thread yet.

Someone pick this up and post a full topic please? It seems kind of important in looking at possible pre-quake leaks and problems at the Fukushima Plant.

Abnormally high levels of radiation were detected in spinach and milk not far from the Fukushima Plant.

"Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said levels of radiation found in some but not all samples of spinach and milk from the Fukushima and Ibaraki prefectures exceeded the limits stipulated by Japan's food safety law."

CNN

Now the real question is; how long has radiation been leaking into the food from there? It takes a while for a cow to eat enough radiated grass to show elevated levels of radiation in milk products.
If they have been leaking into the countryside for a while- maybe this whole horrible event is a 'hidden blessing' that will prevent a worst catastrophe over time.

Nippons are been subjected to radiation since Atomic bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki...
It's not hard to find information about others recents EQs that have damage AtomicsPlants in Japan before this Fukushima Crisis....
one thing we got to keep in mind is that there are differents type of radiation (atomic radiation it's an ElectroMagneticRadiation)(X-rays/Gamma rays) Electromagnetic Spectrum imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov...

Eh, not too big of a deal, really...

Stick it out till mid 2012, then radiation will be the last thing on peoples minds. Not to mention this entire 3D reality is about to deconstruct... *goes off whistling*
