There is an Old Cheyenne proverb: "A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground. Then it is done, no matter how brave its warriors or strong its weapons."

First, the GOP re-defined rape, because, I guess, they don't believe that women know what constitutes rape. Ongoing,it seems every week there is a new bill being drawn up or introduced to legislation that would seriously curtail a woman's right to get an abortion.

I would like to understand this surge of anti choice bills against women's rights without the use of Biblical support.

Don't call them anti-choice bills. Call them Oppressive. Call them Tyrannical. But never imply that they reduce choice when it fact they simply harm people who are already in pain.

See, to some conservatives, the government should stay out of their lives, however, these same conservatives think the government should be in a woman's womb.

They cite the rights of a small amount of cells over the rights of the woman those cells inhabit.

Anyone ever notice that republicans and democrats always argue the same issues over and over, but their solutions always lead back to the starting place? Don't you old folk ever get sick of that?

Lets just use some common sense here, why make abortion illegal? It doesn't make sense, if you make it illegal you will have a TON of unwanted kids running around and nobody wants that. Why not educate women/men on safe sex and pregnancy prevention? Lets make unwanted pregnancy, rare, then you won't even need these stupid conversations any more.

Welcome to GOP America, where the only rights that count are those of the rich and corporate elderly white males. You "little people", like you GIRLS and you GAYS and you other BOHEMIAN live-style livers, your "rights" just get in the way of the Important People.

The GOP has proven over and over it is peopled by people who are miserable leaders. They can campaign like all get out, and they can propagandize till the cows come home, but they are terrible leaders. Even worse than the Democrats, and that is an impressive achievement.

As long as they have any political power, individual freedoms of the not-rich will continue to decline rapidly. They don't even care about trying to hide it anymore.

Until the child is born and then they couldn't care less. If they did they would do everything in their power to ensure the success of that family. If the child becomes a success, good. If not, they've got a prison for profit waiting for their arrival.

What I don't understand is why the GOP thinks we should have the CHOICE not to pay for abortions, but when it comes to their immoral and illegal wars, we shouldn't have a choice whether or not to pay for that... If we're going to choose NOT to pay for certain medical conditions, then I want that same freedom to choose NOT to pay for my country's government-sponsored invasions and terrorism...

The GOP is trying to take our rights away. They are no less guilty than the Democrats who want to take our guns away, although I see little sign of that lately. It's all about girls gays and poor people these days. They and their rights don't matter to this crowd.

Wow, another win for "small government" republicans.

Loving the hypocrisy in some of these political maneuvers.

This is when the scripture gets taken literately and not as the guide it was originally meant to be. This is the fundamental problem with faith.

The GOP Bagger Neo Nazi's are at it again, attempting to deny an enite group of people rights, the entire GOP mantra is to deny evveryone rights who is not white and does not vote GOP.

This is what they are wasting time on instead of focusing on what is important.

Good point, friend. However, the GOP so likes their wars, that spending our tax dollars for THAT is ok with them. They believe in war; even though it takes the lives of innocent people.

I have a theory about the reason certain people want abortion illegal.

What economic class has the most abortions? Lower class and lower middle class.

Poverty is a cycle. If you are born into poverty, you are many times more likely to live in poverty your whole life.

The more people that are in poverty, the more control those that 'HAVE' have over those in poverty.

Therefore, if you outlaw abortion, you create more poverty, thus creating more control for the few that are in power.

its simply one more step in the destruction of the middle class.

On the contrary, the political strength of the poor lies in their numbers. Those millions of extra poor would have been able to vote, but...

If anything, I'd say that certain other people are using it as a form of rabble control.

Look at history. A strong middle class limits the power of the upper class. It has never failed throughout our history.

Even with numbers, those in poverty have ZERO political power. And the elimination of a middle class puts ALL of the power in the top 1% or so.

Again, read your history. Your statement is absolutely false.

There is nothing to see here. Just mindless pandering by the rightist politicians so they can go back to there conservative base and point at it as an acheivement of conservative values..... even though it failed.

It will fail. It has to.... they need their base to remain outraged so they will vote for them again.

If it doesn't fail, it will be inconsiquential. Every 'change' it makes will have loopholes so nothing is actually accomplished.

Brilliant.

Whats even more crazy, is that if you decide not to pay taxes, they send out the police that they force YOU to pay for as well to come and kick your ass and shoot your dog.

Its terrific that the same folks who want to restrict your most personal of decisions are the same folks who want to violate the most personal forms of communication and behavior we engage in at this point in history.

Warrantless searches of e-mail and web history, warrantless roving wire taps, CCTV everyplace, close on cavity searches to travel and soon to get into a public function like a ball game or concert.

And of course, getting between you and your doctor. Next it will be requiring you to show a marriage certificate to get Viagra.

At least they are consistent, you have no privacy in any form. The government has domain over the most personal aspects of your life and can and will use that personal activity against you.

Is it false? The poor do vote and as a group wield a considerable amount of political power. One look at the exit polls from the presidential election in '08 is proof enough of that fact.

Um.. wouldn't that be because there are more of us here in the lower and middle classes? Would be a bit strange for the top 10% (meaning 1% of the population, roughly) of income earners to have a majority of abortions, would it not?
