I live here in Michigan, and tonight we are supposed to have fairly clear skies all night. I just purchased an 8 inch Nexstar Celestron telescope...If I can figure out how to use the camera T back in time, I should be able to post some magnificent pictures.

I am new to Picassa, and I linked this album with a special generated link. Can you access other albums now?

Yeah it still shows your profile on the right side. Hmm, might be safer to make a new account, specifically for posting here.

Good 'onya, Mate! That was excellent. Thank you. The sweet baby noises in the background were a nice touch.

Okay, here's my first try!

Settings:
Canon Powershot A720 IS
Exposure Time: 1/125
ISO 200
Focal Length: 34.8
Image size: 3264*2448
Quality: Super Fine

Taken in France, at 8:30PM (1h1/4 after the moon rise) with a tripod

Post as it is, without any PS enhancement, only crop version.

I'm not satisfied with it, as there are lots of artifacts and the whole aspect is grainy, I will try it again later and at the moonset.

Awesome moon here in England tonight!
What made it extra strange and special was that two contrails crossed through it for while and were really lit up. Bizarre. Sorry no pic as was in car and just stopped for a bit to gaze...

Here is my contribution quoted from another thread, since this one isn't really picture-heavy so far, as the title might suggest

So I'm looking outside and it's 8pm here in Oregon, and there's abolutely no moon in the sky. Where the hell is it? We always have a visibile moon in the sky at this time of the night.....

Weird...

Man......

I'm in Chicago, I can see the moon but it doesn't look much bigger than normal and definitely not the largest I've ever seen it. Honestly, I'm rather disappointed.

I am so glad people are sharing their pictures and videos. I was very disappointed today when I went outside and noticed that planes were busy filling the sky with clouds. They spread so much that you can't see the sky anymore. Very sad I can't go out and see this for myself.
