Koch-founded group recycles misleading video to support union-busting

www.rawstory.com

A new ad out of FreedomWorks, the political advocacy group funded in-part by arch conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch, rankled critics Friday for recycling footage from a California protest to smear union workers in Ohio.

...Their campaign attempts to portray organized labor as violent bullies unwilling to share a national burden - even though Wisconsin unions accepted the governor's proposed cuts to their wages, hours and benefits.

The source article's full title is: Koch-founded group recycles misleading video to support union-busting in Ohio.

The story is that the Koch-funded campaign used footage from California for Ohio - and misrepresented what was going on in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin people were peaceful - AND took it on the chin for cuts to their wages, hours and benefits. Seems like big concessions to me. Not big enough or good enough, apparently.

Then the anti-union video misrepresents the Wisconsin fight - by showing California footage - and it's been re-released. Despite known misrepresentations.

If the anti-union position is valid - why lie?

Besides the tell-tale palm trees in the video, one clip shows a Koch-supporter's camera is pushed away - but of course, no one knows she's not a legitimate reporter, and the guy who pushed the camera aside is portrayed as a union "thug."

palm trees could clearly be seen in the background, which Wisconsin's climate isn't able to support. The flap has led some Wisconsin protesters to begin carrying inflatable plastic palm trees at protests.

It also includes footage of a separate incident where a man at a union protest pushed a camera out of his face. It was treated as some kind of significant ordeal by conservative media, which made him out to be a "violent leftist union thug" who had somehow "assaulted" a young girl.

Turns out the girl was a FreedomWorks volunteer, and she was unharmed.

Again, if the position is valid - why use deception to make the point? And why throw such BIG money against such little people?

They never learn. This happens all the time. When they cant find the footage they want they will just cook something up. Also I watched that longer version of the video and it said "We won in Wisconsin" in the end. I just had to comment on youtube.

How is it that you won in wisconsin if you first of all broke the law and now you've been busted for that???
