This monitor is measuring in CPM (counts per minute). Its measuring how often it detects radiation, but not the actual LEVEL of radiation.

Also, according to the enviroreporter website, it is in an semi-enclosed area, not directly exposed to the outdoors.

Seems kind of misleading. Anyone have anything better for LA? RadiationNetwork doesn't have a monitor there.

Gentlemen, thank you for setting me straight.

My apologies to everyone. I had a bit too much to drink at my nephew's wedding. I didn't read the whole thread before I spoke; I read a couple of samples and misunderstood the entire timbre of the thing and set off on a rant. A misinformed rant at that.

Again, my apologies. I work in San Francisco, and live across the Bay in Oakland. I've been a bit nervous about the Japan situation myself. At this point I'll finish reading the entire thread with no further comments.
