Flame away dude.. I am more concerned with people's lives than oil, so whatever the real motivation for this, peoples lives will be saved AND this has the full backing of the international community, unlike Iraq of course...

I am more concerned with people's lives than oil

The New World Order doesn't care about peoples lives, they are only concerned with oil, in fact the uprisings have been about oil, the rebels took control over key oil areas in Libya.

this has the full backing of the international community, unlike Iraq of course.

Huh say what? full backing of the international community? oh right sure all cheering for oil for war, and yes just like iraq.

You better wake up.
Took control over key oil fields? Show us some links bud? Don't just tell us this is what's going on. Also are you denying that gaddafi is a dictator that has been klling and maiming his own population for years? You're not bothered by him executing airstrikes on the protesters?

the libyans have decleared a ceasefire because they are so afraid of foriegn military power their millitary is weak and can be taken with ease, itl take about a week of airstrikes to severly hamper them to the point where the rebels/freedom fighters can over power gaddafis forces.

and anyone who tells me this military intervention is wrong because of iraq need remember just because iraq went wrong doesnt mean overthrowing other dictators is the wrong thing to do.its the right thing to do.

This is just a prelude to ground troops.
There's too much oil in Libya to pass up so you know the West will be in there one way or another to take control - sooner or later (sooner i'm wagering). Bet Exxon Mobil has been preparing to acquire oil drilling rights in Libya for months now.

Ideally the Arab League should have taken this on so there's no one to blame but themselves. But a perfect world is not where we all live.

Looking forward to the debate on where we're going to get the money to pay for this "venture" (while we're printing trillions of $, why not print a few more hundred billion $ more), not to mention the manpower (troops). The Draft? Bring it on!

A couple of questions: Are/have they began dropping any pamphlets to the public? And does Khadafi have any allies that may intervene?

I hope those rebels are not clock watching. God forbid the Earth should be attacked by an alien race and it was left to the United Nations to organise a swift defense plan.

What the hell, according to the article, the bombers are on their way to bomb Saddam Hussein in Iraq! Was this story dug up on a search of the Daily Mail's website?

A wave of B-52 bombers took off today from RAF Fairford.
The giant bombers, which have been expected to play a key role in the bombing of Iraq, took off one after the other from the Gloucestershire base shortly after 10am.
In recent days the eight-engine bombers, which carry an awesome arsenal of weapons including cruise missiles, have been seen being loaded up.
It is the first time that so many of the jets have left the base in one sortie.
The planes, which have an 8,000-mile range, could hit Iraqi targets within around six hours of leaving Britain.
The British-based bombers have yet to see action in the war against Saddam Hussein.

That's obviously a mistake or some stupid editor sent the news out for Libya and forgeot to change the text. Either way you can bet that most if not all of the reports from our media will be lies and propaganda!!

Gaddafi duck attacked targets last night. And within the next few hours the frogs are going to move their military arsenal in and attack Gaddafi duck!

Just on news, a military fighter jet has been shot down in flames over Libya but no one knows who the plane belongs to and who shot it down... any ideas? Why would Libyan government say they are going to cease fire immediately then attack their own country? Libyan civilians are pleading to the world to help them on television right now. Time is up I say.

Rebels shot down a warplane Saturday that was seen bombing the outskirts of the key rebel-held city of Benghazi, sending up a massive black cloud of smoke. An Associated Press reporter saw the plane go down in flames and heard the sound of artillery and crackling gunfire in the distance.

Seems to have been one of Gaddafi's planes.

The no fly zone and strikes on his supply chain and the unit positions around Benghazi will cripple his army real fast. If it tries to retreat to Tripoli it will be another road of death just like in the first Iraq war when Iraq's Republican guard pulled out of Kuwait and was slaughtered from the sky.

Inside the classified Hill briefing, administration spells out war plan for Libya

At Thursday morning's hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz said that Qaddafi's forces had reestablished control over large swaths of territory and that the Libyan leader had tens of planes and hundreds of helicopters in use.

He called the plan to impose a no-fly zone in a few days "overly optimistic" and said "it would take upwards of a week."

Schwartz was also clear that while the U.S. military can impose a no-fly zone, that's not likely to stop Qaddafi all by itself. He also noted that to do so effectively might require diverting some resources from the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"The question is, is a no-fly zone the last step or is it the first step?" Schwartz said.

Asked by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) whether a no-fly zone could turn the momentum, Scwartz replied,"A no-fly zone, sir, would not be sufficient."

This war the French and British are competeing whos going to take lead, the US are nowherer to be seen, if you see any building being bombed it will be from either the French or British, the US have showed very very little interest and will most probably take a far back seat, all the media seems to be focused on the French and British who are cooperating very closely.

I should also add that Canada has showed a lot of interest in helping also, there were acctually Canadian jets in the UK last night in Glasgow

US is already getting it's oil from Iraq and Saudi.

Now the Brits and the French want their big share in Libya.

They are all just securing their resources and getting rid of any potential 'threat'.

If you knew anything about oil, you would know that 70% of French fuel is Nuclear and Britain do not get their oil from libya, they get it from Norway, this isn't about oil, people seem to be brainwashed in thinking that, only 2% of the worlds oil comes from Libya, majority is from Saudi Arabia, its just like HAARP, anything that happens in the world people allways scream HAARP DID IT!!, even though they dont have a clue of haarps real capabilitys
