US helicopter shot down: Iraqi police

GUERRILLAS shot down a United States helicopter today during fierce clashes in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi and three on board were killed, an Iraqi police officer in the city said.

Several witnesses also said a helicopter was shot down.

At least five Iraqis were killed in the clashes, a doctor at Ramadi's hospital said.

No plane is down unless someone can show the picture in Internet, TV or paper.

I just seen on TV news that it might not be true. So who knows.

I've got the radio on here at work, local station, reported about 10 minutes ago that, it's being reported that a chopper was shot down, details to come...

but nothing since that... guess we'll have to wait and see.

So at least some people know that it is true, while those in the know are denying.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The U.S. military says a report from Iraqi police that an American helicopter has been shot down near the city of Ramadi is false.

"We have not had any casualties in the past 24 hours and no downed helicopters," a spokesman for the U.S. Marine Corps in western Iraq said on Wednesday.

Iraqi police in Ramadi had said a U.S. helicopter was shot down during fierce fighting in the city, and that three crew were reported killed.
