I have received some information from a source that states that the GPS system in Japan of 1,200 GPS monitoring station across the main island, detected a maximum displacement of 13 feet (4 meters) and an average displacement of 8 feet (2.7 meters). after the 9.0 earthquake on the 11th.

I cannot post a link to this as it comes from a subscription service. But will try to independently verify through other sources.

I am sure that this will not be a major issue for mobile GPS systems as they will be able to be reset. which will basically be software changes.

However it's show just how much power was unleashed, that it could literally pick the country up and shift it 4 meters.

Question here is would this act like a rubber band effect of the other side of the Pacific plate, adding stress there?
