Discarding any of the useless smart-ass remarks made in this thread, I think it will be interesting to see the results in the end of this little ATS experiment.

I have noticed on thing that is strange around my house. Probably nothing to do with anything seismic but I noticed in the past couple of weeks now that the dogs two houses down have not barked once.
Three months ago I was ready to call animal control on these dogs because all they did was bark day and night and the owner never did anything about it. I never complained but what little breaks I had from the noise was well spent.
I know the dogs are still there but even when sirens are heard, which is all the time on the busy street I live on, I don't hear a peep out of them. Now maybe they got shock collars on ? Maybe the owner did something else to prevent all the barking. I don't know.
I'm almost compelled to walk down and ask why his dogs have finally shut up

Interesting that you posted this..

I had not even thought of it, but I too now that you've mentioned it have noticed that the usual amount of barking dogs in the neighborhood have been silent too.. Well for that, I'm actually thankfull, right behind me facing my bedroom window was the most annoying 'yap-yap-yapping' little chihuahua. All morning long.. Yap-yap-yap..! Was driving me crazy.. Interesting how some events are right under your nose and you don't observe them..

Hmm, I think I might have to add that down as anecdotal data/info (just on a personal reference/note until others perhaps share 'like' information)

So uhh, why no prediction of the recent Japanese quake?

Or the Boxing day tsunami?

If what you say is true, then it's your fault hundreds of thousands people died, since you apparently know they're coming.

Are the Cascadia Subduction zone and the San Andreas Fault connected in any kind of way? It looks like one could trigger the other. Also Oregon and Washington have been getting very few earthquakes lately, makes me wonder if the plate is locked or something.

Experts: Calif. Faces High Quake Risk

SAN DIEGO -- California faces a serious risk as some scientists believe recent earthquakes in Japan, New Zealand and Chile mean the West Coast is next.

Quake experts define the Pacific Ring of Fire as the area in the Pacific with the most earthquakes and volcanic activity.

Geologist Dr. Pat Abbott told 10News the Ring of Fire is "probably the most active area in the world."

In the wake of Japan's massive earthquake last week, some scientists believe California is now at risk of a significant quake.

*SNIP*

Abbott said San Francisco could feel a 7.4- or 7.8-magnitude quake and experience some damage, but no threats of tsunamis.

Abbott added the area where the Salton Sea runs past Palm Springs to San Bernardino could also be next.

READ MORE @ SOURCE

Just thought I would add this so Jim Berkland doesn't feel alone in this

One thing I have noticed an many reports and graphs. San Diego seems to be a "safe zone" from earthquakes to apocalyptic disasters. SO I guess that makes me feel somewhat safer. But I still have my BoB ready just in case

Cascadia connection

Recent studies of past earthquake traces on both the northern San Andreas Fault and the southern Cascadia subduction zone indicate a correlation in time which may be evidence that quakes on the Cascadia subduction zone may have triggered most of the major quakes on the northern San Andreas during at least the past 3,000 years or so.

Plate Boundary Ruptures Along Western North America
North of Cape Mendocino, the San Andreas fault merges with the plate boundary of the Cascadia subduction zone that lies offshore of northernmost California, Oregon, and Washington.

Earthquakes Along The Cascadia And San Andreas Faults May Be Linked, Affecting Risk To San Francisco Bay Region
ScienceDaily (Apr. 8, 2008) — Seismic activity on the southern Cascadia Subduction fault may have triggered major earthquakes along the northern San Andreas Fault, according to new research published by the Bulletin of Seismological Society of America (BSSA). The research refines the recurrence rate for the southern portion of the Cascadia fault to approximately every 220 years for the last 3000 years.

personally i think the only reason this fault line has not done anything is this earthquake.usgs.gov... but if you look here
earthquake.usgs.gov... you can see the yellow and blue with some red dots note the yellow up in the north east this is the northern end of the New Madrid fault, and if you notice the cal area well it looks like there will be two Ca's and the Utah well any one want ocean front property? just my perspective on this, what some thought took years or century's to do, can and does happen in a blink of an eye.

Well - - here I sit in Redondo Beach CA - - waiting for the Big One. Apparently it got stuck in a traffic jam or "plate jam" or something.

I have felt dizzy and gotten a rolling feeling a few times - - - could just be the Scotch.

No major earthquake yet - - but we might sink from all this rain

It looks as though the settling of the Pacific Plate after Japan's 'quake has caused some buildup of stresses, with resulting releases, on the comparatively small Filipino Plate, particularly where it meets the Eurasian Plate:
