UK Rescue Team sent packing (By the British)

Red tape???? WTF is going on? These people are given permission by the Japanese, only to be sent packing by the Brits. You cannot even give a helping hand without damn politicians getting in the fracking way.

As a fellow Brit, so do I mate. So do I.

I hate to admit this but the facts are quite clear.....we can not put our search and rescue teams in serious danger. Australia alone has approx 80 on the ground and I think under the circumstances they too should consider leaving.

This is such a futile thing to do. They could have been utilised in some way surely, but to make them go all the way back to the UK is ridiculous...a waste of several energies. There is nothing on their website to suggest that they are anything but highly experienced disaster relief specialists, a simple phonecall could have resolved the 'red tape'. It is situations like this that start rumours of conspiracy as there is no other logical explanation as to why such expertise would be turned away when it is most needed. The mind boggles.

No....it tells us that the suituation has deeply worsened and there is a very clear and apparent danger of a high radiation risk.....and it's getting worse by the hour!

Once again this country needs "griped", All the help this team of experienced "survivalists" could have contributed to saving lives and ensuring safe rescue practises has been squandered due to whitehall petty red-tape All this scunders me..
I mean if this were to happen here in Britain i hate to think what mess we would be in.

Which is why they need as many willing hands to help out as they can get, while there is still time. If people are willing to risk their lives to help others it should be a simple matter for them to do so, once it has been ascertained that they know those dangers.

Unbelievable, that a rescue effort could be stopped because the embassy couldn't verify that they were a bona fide organisation.

They should stay screw the british goverment and just get on with rescue efforts anyway. Im sure japan are not going to refuse the help. I just think it a complete waste of time sending them back home.

These people are willing to endanger themselves in order to save lives.

Now due to irrational bureaucracy less lives will be saved.

Will those responsible live with the guilt for the rest of their sorry lives? No, because they've got a book of rules to hide behind.

If there was a way I could get over there myself and help, I would be willing to take unpaid leave.
But, being British, my government would probably have me arrested for helping without there approval.

It's not the case of holding your head in shame it's got nothing to do with red tape I'm afraid it's the fact the radiation is getting bad out there. There is a cover up that is for sure but you can only keep it under wraps for a short time when things get this bad.

The US know this thats why they got the hell away from the affected area, News reporters now gone west of Japan and now even leaving , The blast we seen 3000ft with big debris thrown up, The core was blown and full meltdown there. Also reactor 3 Mox fuel very nasty , reactor 4 fires with all them rods, Going to get bad out there so that is why the British being sent home. I hope I'm wrong but...

So do we all just abandon the Japanese people then! Also why isn't the British Embassy being evacuated if that is the case?

That is probably why they wouldn't take responsibility for the team. They want to get out themselves, they can't do that until everyone that they are responsible for is out.

If thats the case then the British Embassy won't be going anywhere soon, not as there are 7000 brits unaccounted for in Japan.
British bureaucracy never fails to defy logic, especially when it's least needed.

Well you shouldn't, Any British person is with you on this one, But it the grumpy old farts in Westminster and in parliament that should hang there heads in shame

It seems shocking but I wonder if the logistics of a possible evacuation is what has actually put a stop to this team?

If there is an evacuation needed soon the British government will want as few people in the country that they are responsible for as possible.

If this isn't the real reason then I'm stunned
