Explosion during artillery exercise at Ft. Bragg in NC injures 10 from Marines, Navy

The explosion Monday night injured eight Marines and two Navy personnel from the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, also in North Carolina.

Division Staff Sgt. Jayson Price said Tuesday the cause of the explosion was under investigation but that it occurred during an artillery live-fire exercise.

Price would not release the names of those injured and did not have details about the extent of the injuries.

Ft. Bragg is very very large. It was the nearest place to Camp Lejeune, that the soldiers could practice their live-fire exercises with long distance artillery. I live close to Bragg and hear the explosions ALL the time, more so lately. Sad to hear some of our soldiers were injured by this... The blast and shrapnel is what has been said to have hurt them.

Yeah, I already posted there... I live right next to Bragg, all animals normal here. The past few months activity has increased though, yeah.

I was stationed at Pope AFB, with 3APS, I was not a rigger. I used to have pictures rattled off my wall while living in Spring Lake. Once I called command post and asked if a plan crashed cause it was so loud. Not to mention how many 11B (army paratroopers) I saw in the 6 years I was there that got hurt or killed during training accidents, we'd just hear there was an IFE (in flight emergency) and then when I had to escort the alibis (army that did not jump) off the aircraft (usually a c-130) and indeed off the flightline, we'd find out there was an accident with a jumper or jump master where someone was decapitated or obviously less hurt.
