Any Volcanologists wish to share their own opinions/expertees on this. Its known the Volcano erupted not long after a major quake in Honshu bay in 1707. So if this *IS* steam/gaseous venting I wont be too surprised to hear. Not good news however.

Looks more like early morning clouds over the mountain. Seems natural to me.
Unless the Mt Fuji seismo's are going harmonic I'd say it's normal mountain weather.
I wouldn't be suprised if she does go active though.

two of the links arent working for me
the last one works though and it doesn't look like anything to me except for some clouds, unless i'm not seeing it

also can't volcanoes vent without eruption? not saying either way whether not it actually is or whether or not it's preparing to blow but i can't remember any of this kind of thing from high school science class lol i never paid attention.

What is the weather like on the mountain? It looks as if the wind is blowing hard, bringing some flurries with it.

in this case its the morning sun heating the snow atop fuji, making clouds.

ive seen it and photographed it many times.

now thats not to say it is not a danger, the city of fuji yoshida and the fujiko districts have many many saftey documetns around the area in case fujisan goes boom!

I use to live in Japan. For four years of my life, I awoke to a beautiful view of Fuji, and the clouds around the top are pretty much what it always looked like. One of the most beautiful sights in the morning to see. I think that seeing Fuji every day was actually part of what I enjoyed the most of my stay there.
