If the bankers get their wish and the Japanese reactors blow, they can go around secretly setting off dirty bombs all over the US, safely knowing that everyone will say "It came from Japan!"

Obama whether you like him or not is doing exactly what he should be doing, trying to drum up some cash considering the US is the bend over and take it position right now. Yes, what's happpening in Japan is horrific and tragic but he's still got a job to do with regard to his own country teetering on the verge of financial collapse. If he doesn't focus on that job, the next disaster will be in your own backyards, that disaster will be poverty the likes of which your pampered asses haven't seen.

Go drum up some molla Obama, much better than wringing your hands and crying the end is nigh.

He's going to Rio to drum up cash? Maybe the reality of his spending spree finally hit him when Glenn Beck explained that Japan might have to dump our T Bills to pay for cleanup and rebuilding. He could have just stopped all the entitlements and then he wouldn't have to go to Rio to drum up cash. See? That's, I mean, if we follow your logic that his trip has anything to do with genuinely leading the country. Oh, wait, Rio, that's Brazil, where he is investing in the foreign energy company Petrobas! Not drumming up cash, spending more of it.

I don't understand what you're trying to imply. Are you saying that you want the guy to be fly into Japan and airlift out the people himself? He said the US is willing to help Japan any way that we can.

Okey, a couple of things. First you missed the point of the post that I answered. Stateing that in defence of obama could do everything from the White House in Air Force One that the same should apply to President Bush, vacation or not.
Number two. If this is supposed to be a "business" trip why the need to bring the whole family? If he's bring the whole family then he must be planning on some play time which equals vacation again.

You know how many businessmen take their families along? Doesn't mean he won't work, just means he gets to spend the night with his wife and maybe say goodnight to his kids.

I'm taking my GF along on business trips all the time...don't get to see her during the day, but it's nice to have a friendly face around before you go to bed, and when you wake up in the morning.

And his wife/kids don't have an official function, they're accessories...so don't act as if someone poured sand into your panties

Since when is Japan part of the US?

The Prez already has a reputation for dissing our friends and being friendly with our enemies. Why should he be any different with Japan, another one of our friends, eh?

Maybe there is a message in Japan asking Russia to help before asking USA under Obama.

do you know what this man has to go through EVERY day hes in office?

Oh brother! It was shown to us that he doesn't even meet with his own advisors! Ever! Instead he meets with Socialist hob knobber Union boss, Bill Ayers, and goodness knows what other radical Socialist/Marxist/America hating revolutionaries. Why is he wasting a "good crisis" by going to Rio anyway? Could it be to spend more US tax dollars on Brazilian Socialist Petrobas because he knows the world is going to sack nuclear energy?

No he isn't; he's golfing, no I mean he's partying and dancing, no I mean he's filling out his basketball brackets... This moron is out to lunch. He has been golfing every weekend since taking office. He has averaged one vacation a month since taking office and his approval rating is still in the 40's that means 40+% of the country is also out to lunch. This is a guy that could change a 9 dollar bill in 3's. I think he should be removed from office.

You would think POTUS could schedule golf in Hawaii so as to appear to be concerned about radiation from Japan

(Snip) Are you still getting your news from a guy who gets all tingly up his leg for the Prez? or the guy who sacrficed his own Dad to the agenda of Nationalized Death Care? Oh yes, Japan was putting cash into the market. I wonder how they did that? Maybe dumping our T Bills? Or do they do like we do and just print money and drive up inflation? www.abc.net.au...

Stupid Obama! He should be out there pulling bodies out of the mud. Then he should go fix those reactors... I mean what kind of president wont go to Japan to try and stop the next big earthquake? If he was ANY type of decent man, he would not of let this earthquake happen in the first place! I mean really?? How dare he continue handeling his responsablities?

Sarcasm: End.

The worst President ever? lol... wow. Keep hating people, it is working so far isnt it? Geeeez, the masses are never happy, are they?

Would you be happy if the president dropped everything? Headed on over there? Maybe you would be satisfied if Obama just told EVERY AMERICAN to SIT HOME until JAPAN is cleaned up?

Please pardon my attitude, I guess I'm a little confused (after reading this thread) as to what EXACTLY the President should be doing about JAPAN that would make everything better, and the haters happy??

Are WE (The American people) doing anything to help??

You do realize he can do everything you ask without being in the country, right? Ever heard of phones, emails, and the Internet?

The physical location of the president matters nothing...unless you're a crazy irrational armchair patriot

Just for fun, let's look at vacation days per year for the past few presidents:

- Obama: 26 days
- Clinton: 21 days
- Reagan: 42 days
- Bush: 69 (LOOOOOL)
- Bush senior: 40 days
- Carter: 19 days

Notice a trend?

O_O WOW! I wish I could take more then 2 months off from work and have Obama take my slack for me for taking a decent amount of vacation.

Wow, what's with all of the dissing of Obama for going about his regularly scheduled life? Seriously, what is he suppose to do, catch a flight to Japan, roll up his sleeves and do rescue work?

He has already made it clear that the US will help Japan in any way they request. What more do you folks want from him? To break down and cry like John Boehner? You want him to sit glued to his TV and internet sifting through the disinformation to get the facts? I can guarantee you he is doing everything within his capacity to assist in the situation, and he is certainly better informed than us, but I suppose it's never going to be enough for some of you.

This is nothing more than another pathetic attempt to take a shot at disparaging Obama.

Yep and yep. This is the state of politics and I bet if he did go over to Japan and try to help them out we would have people upset that he isn't here in America trying to fix our problems. I'm sure we could look back at Bush and see these same types of "issues".

It really is the definition of pathetic.

It's as if the dumb citizens are watching meaningless gladiator games, discussing pointless things like whether or not Obama brings his family along on state trips, while they are completely oblivious to the real issues.

And the media (like Fox) is doing their best in helping to dumb down the nation

Divide and conqure; Republicans or Democrats make little difference, both sides are controlled by the bankers. We need to unite against the bankers and pay less attention to the fake democracy. It's the men behind the curtains we need to debate and research. Obama is just a Burger King Manager; the same as McCain would have been

I get there is a large community of Anti Obama campaigners in ATS, Ok so you don't like him. Its not mandatory for people to actually like the politicians its pretty much a thankless job much like most public service work but come on he is the President of America not the world. Japan has it's own capabilities and leadership to handle the situation and they are doing what they can, Japan has already formally asked Britain, Australia, New Zealand and America to help them with search and rescue which all those countries have deployed their Urban Search and Rescue teams on the ground in japan within the last week. What do you honestly expect Obama to do? tell the Japanese in a superheroesque manner "step aside let me handle this"?.

Lets be realistic there is protocol to follow and even manners he is already doing what he needs to do in this situation. The Nuclear issue is already being handled by the Japanese with whoever they have requested assistance from in this incident. If the need arises i am sure he will follow correct protocol and handle it from wherever he is and if he is needed to go to Washington urgently i'm sure he will be there. I've seen in news reports of people panicking unnecessarily in America and Stockpiling Iodine tablets is it so hard for people there to just wait and listen to common sense advice from people who know what they are talking about before taking unnecessary drastic steps It's like panicking that the New Madrid fault line will be woken up by this. Chances are if that is likely the scientists monitoring things may see some early indications to alert people to.

All we can do is breathe and take each day as it comes and take all the information sift through it logically with common sense.

Thats if common sense still exists i swear it's being bred out of the human race.
